How to put 3 ATV in truck bed?
#12
There's no way I would haul ATVs above the bedrails of my truck. I've already rolled an SUV and a van, and I know I would have an accident with that set-up.
I wouldn't mind having a duece-and-a-half, just for GP. There are some trail roads that I'd love to drive it on. I drove an M109 shop van with a single-axle trailer when I was stationed in Germany and was licensed on the M35A2C drop-side cargo truck too. Too bad I topped out around 55 on the autobahn. It would be a bit top heavy, but nothing compared to my 5,500 lb truck camper I already carry in the bed. I have a dually, so that takes some of the tippyness away. Anyway, back to looking since that manufacture decided to QUIT making that model.

I have a dually that I haul a 700 sp and a 800 can am max on a home made rack that I bulit. Trust me, the two full sized quads up there are nothing compared to the slide in camper you have.
The truck will handle it like your running empty. I also pull a 20 ft enclosed car trailer at the same time and the whole rig goes down the road real nice.
There is nothing like a dually for stability. To bad I am a retard or I would post some pics.

as mister daully Chevy i'm betting its a 4 door cab as that is what is popular these days i hope your running your tow/haul when loaded that heavy or you as well will be making a costly mistake. . .
Sorry guy's but in my day i have way to many Auto trans failures. . . so i like to pass along what i ahve learned to others so instead of thosands on transmission replacments you guys got that cash for more trips and toy's ECT. . .
my 2500 diesel is the last of the auto trans for me. . .well a mnaual trans is getting almost impossible to find but thats what i perfer to use for towing. . .

Its a F350, 460, 4 speed auto, 4wd, 4 door.. I only use the OD on very flat ground, or when I have a tail wind. It has a huge tranny cooler and I service the tranny every year(under 10K miles per year).

Holly smokes batman, that's one hell of a packing job. Even got two motorcycles in there. How long and difficult is it to load? I take it there is some brute force involved getting the fronts up in the air?
After 3 PSDs and 3 trans failures, I went with the GMC/allison combo. Pop it in T/H mode only when it hunts between gears..o-wait, never has, I just drive in O/D all the time. The TC always locks. If not, I will bump into T/H for a second or so till it locks the TC and put back in normal mode. Problem with the ford was it never held the TC locked. In my 1st PSD, it would not lock in 1/2 gear and when pulling hills, it would get hot. However, all my PSD were 4 speed autos, 4R100, E4OD, etc. I never tried the newer 5 speed. After 3 trans, I gave up on Ford. Do have to say the Ford 350 hauls the camper better than the GMC. Ford has a sweet weight rating. Beats GMC by 1,500 lbs.

Thanks TLC.
Thanks serpa4, My oldest son said it couldnt be done. It is a real tight fit and the 2 stroke has to go on the left side so the pipe bulge has room. First time took about 1.5 hrs. I can load it myself now in about 30 minutes. First 2 have handle bars folded down, I fold them down after standing them up. First one has my air tank between the rear and and the front of the bed. Next 2 have a block of 4X10 wood between the grab bar and the rear end of the quad behind it. The 3rd one is the toughest to stand up and get into position because you have to start lifting it before its in the truck. 3rd one is also the toughest one to drop down when unloading also. Quads are loaded first and dirt bikes are squeezed into position last.
