Question Weight Distributing Hitch

Anyone have any ideas on what type of hitch I need or even if I need one. I have a 2005 Forest River toyhauler that weighs around 11000 pounds and want to pull it with a Dodge Ram 3500.

You will defiantly want a weight distributing hitch. It will make the trailer pull a lot nicer. If you get online you can find them for about $250-$300 but I would check with your local RV dealer too. I know on my trailer it makes a world of difference and would not consider pulling a trailer without it now.

If I can remember where I got mine at I'll post a link. Not pulling as heavy a trailer as you are, but got a 10,000 pound hitch system and anti sway for 425 delivered to the house.

Guess I don't have the oldtimers as bad as I remember.

Is your 3500 a dually?

Factory receiver is rated at 10,000 so you will want a good aftermarket class V receiver.

An RV dealership may give you $ for the factory one.

With a dually, you may not need WDH, but would be nice. With single rear wheel, I'd be thinking WDH with sway control.

Go with a Weight Distribution Hitch. I would stick with a Reese or EAZ-Lift (Chain type).

Avoid the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Equalizer type hitch. They are a pain to use, make a ton of noise and are expensive.

Another thing to consider is Air Bags. Best thing I ever did to my truck for towing.

I have a Equal-i-zer hitch that works great. They have a 14000lb model and check at rvwholesalers.com they have pretty good prices

Check out the Blue Ox. It ran me 700, but it has wt. dist. arms that double as sway bars as long as you keep the bolts torqued properly. It can carry up to 25000. I tow an Octane T21X maxed at 9500 w/ an F250. I was pulling with a Titan. It did fine I just wanted the Diesel. I get no sway at all.
