seems the 04's have better cooling with the new side panels, some kinda rev limiter override button on the left side and different cv joints, or something like that

I would go 04 for SURE

don't buy an 03. They went to a different manufacturer for the CV joints from 02 to 03, and guys are blowing them out left and right. Hope the 04 is changed back, or get a good extended warranty.

Default Changes to 04 grizzly?

After looking at several dealers in my area, none were willing to sell me a NEW 04 grizzly. I believe this was because they want to get rid of the 03's that are not so good in a few catagories.

I refrained, and got an 04' the first one I could find and the only one a a dealer an hour away. Was worth it. I did lots of research on the Grizzly and the 03's had some issues with heat related problems and the CV's.

I'm not sure of all the changes, but I'll give Yamaha a call and see if they will tell me. As for my research, the 04 has heat sheilds just about EVERYWHERE along the exhaust pipe. The side panels are vented, and the fan goes on in short order (meaning that they may have set the thermostadt at a lower temp to keep the engine cooler) I ride mine hard (even though it has not really ben broken in, YUK!) I land it off half decent jumps and I'm hard on the throttle in mud and all terrain. Nothing CV related yet. I'm guessing that they changed to stronger CV's. The guy at the shop told me to get the extended warranty and I did......I thing its smart, especially if you are a hard rider. If your just gonna skoot around on trails, and not ride hard, then it may not be a good choice. I got 4 years for like $800 more.

Needless to say, I love the Grizz so far, A friend can't believe that I keep up with his YZ 490 through his 1st 3 gears on an ATV! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
