New Guy Needs New Tires & Advice
I've got the stock-size Mudrunner run-flats on my Sportsman and would agree with weedy that they are great tires (I have never been stuck and have put them through the wringer).
One thing you have to consider is the "weight" of these tires and how "hard" the tire actually is. They will certainly make your front suspension wear somewhat prematurely and when you hit the bumps/dips with anything less than independent suspension or McPherson struts...........your Kodiak will most certainly feel it.
Other than that, I have had great confidence in not caring what I was running over or up against and I feel that the hard sidewalls have certainly saved me from a flat more than once (my wheels are BADLY torn and bent).
I think weedy suggested the MudLites (just bought a set) and the 589's also........have heard great things about both.

I don't think I would get runflats, the sidewalls are probably pretty stiff. I tore the valve stem off on a down tree, rode back home on the stock dunflop tire without it, it was definatly noticable, the rim was about 1.5 inches off the ground. I pushed the valve stem back in with 2 screwdrivers and went back for more.
