Default praire 700 or sportsman 700?

I searched for "Polaris, TN" and the dealership pops right up. I have a couple of friends who know people that bought there. Prices are posted on the net and I called and talked to them, explained I would be coming from NC, 5 hours away and I didn't want any runaround. They promised that's the out-the-door price (same price my friend's friend got), but I am still a little concerned about local service if I don't buy it here.

Thats why from the very beginning I made myself learn how to fix my own machines!!! I do absolutely every bit of work to my MX bikes and my quads except for the machining of the cylinders and any other machining needed!!! Cuz that labor rate they normal charge is absolutely rediculous!!!!! ALSO, PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAD A FRIEND WITH A YZ250F A YEAR AFTER HE HAD IT, IT WOULDNT WORK, SO HE TOOK IT TO HIS LOCAL YAMAHA, HONDA, AND ZUKI DEALER AND THEY WERE GONNA CHARGE HIM $2500.00 TO FIX IT!!!!! HE THEN TOOK IT TO LAKESHORE PERFORMANCE HERE IN TOWN AND THEY NOT ONLY FIXED THE ENTIRE BIKE, BUT PUT A WISECO HIGH COMP 13:1 PISTON, BORED IT OUT TO 262CC AND REPLACED ALL THE TI VALVES FOR ONLY $714.00!!!! LISTEN GUYS IF YOU SEND YOUR BIKE TO BE WORKED ON AT THE DEALER, THEY ARE GONNA REPLACE EVERYTHING JUST TO BE SAFE, MY ADVICE IS TO EITHER LEARN HOW TO FIX IT YOURSELF OR FIND A MECHANIC THATS NOT ASSOCIATED WITHT HE MONEY HUNGRY DEALERS!!! Now dont get me wrong I love my local DEALER but they will rip you a new rear end when fixing your bike, THEY WANTED TO REPLACE EVERYTHING!!!! But it was only the cylinder that needed to be replaced!!!!! But if you happen to know your MECHANIC personally then I'm sure they will do you right!! BUT IF YOU DON'T, stay away!!!!! I am lucky enough to have a performance shop close by!! They really helped me out big time!!!!!!!!!!! Saved me close to 2 grand!!!

I personally prefer the Praire over the 700. If you go polaris the best build polaris in my point of view is the 500 mag allthough the 500 ho is doing alot better here than the 600 and 700 sportmans. Does anyone with a polaris have over 20,000km on it? If they do speak up! If you want go IRS (which I do not want) look at the new honda.

Bill, I can't believe you know where Happy Camp is. It's in Siskiyou county, as you know, and I also live in Siskiyou county, on the Upper Klamath River. Let me know when you are coming, and maybe we can ride together or something. What are you going to be doing in my neck of the woods anyway. Talk to you soon.

Bill, you will love it here. Most people think Northern California stops at San Francisco, but we are another 300 miles north of SF. It is awesome, especially on the Klamath River. This county is so huge that it would probably take at least 2 hours by pickup or car to get from where I live to Happy Camp, and you are still well within the same county. Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you again.

Bill;

Next time you pull, put a white chalk line on the bottom half of your tire, front and back, from center straight down to the ground, so you can see the tires as they turn.

Have someone take a video of your pull. That will give you the answer.

I think he meant "slipping" as in the front tires spun the same speed as the rear tires. That's how I took it, but Bill, correct me if I'm wrong.

That how I took it to, but I think if you mark them and watch the video, you'll see that there is a lot of slippage in the front wheels, under a hard pull. It was almost impossible to tell riding and they were spinning all the time just not as fast as the rear, in different places on the track.

Might have change in the last two years, but when I pulled with Polaris 500's and HO's, they slipped.

Rideing and normal pulling, they might not.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the way they were locked in and you could still ride and steer. On the prairie, if you pull the lever all the way in, it's straight ahead.

I understand how a polaris 4wheel drive works and you mite be right.I was just talking about the amount of dirt the front wheels were throwing up and when I came to a stop it seamed to me that all four tires were sunk in the dirt about the same.There was a guy there from KC with to moded up sp500 that couldnt be stoped he had tires like yours shotgun maybe even wide and his front weights moved forword as he went down the track this guy had a hell of alot of work in them.
