All I know is I can't afford either one of them. But I did have the privilege of riding with "Trailride" a week or so ago and I really was impressed with his Prairie...The week before I had ridden with an old hunter who had the Polaris 700 Sport. I was impressed with that too. But of the two machines, it is my humble opinion that the Prairie is a little more rugged than the Polaris.

Pulling 3,000 pounds SHOULD be nothing for the Prarie, or any other quad for that matter. Quite a few years ago, Just for fun, I pulled my Jeep Cherokee, full of gas, oversized tires, and gear inside UPHILL on my gravel driveway until it got to steep and I lost traction. This was with a Polaris 300 xplorer.

I just came back to this forum after several years away due to a messy divorce, ect... I put my money down on a new camo P700, I been riding Polaris since 96, can't say anything about the 700 sportsman never had the opportunity to test one, my Kawi dealer let me ride a P700 for about an hour this morning and I was impressed, I like to corner hard and most irs machines I tryed have some body roll, thats not for me, I'm a big straight axle fan, I been riding my 98 scrambler since I bought it new in 98. I can't compare power since I haven't ridden the Sportsman, but I can tell you this I left the dealer with a big smile on my face that V-twin seems awesome. I was a real regular on here 2-3 years ago but my old login info doesn't work anymore, so I'm not a newbie, thanks for hearing my 2 cents worth

Sounds like you got slamed by a fast talking salesman.Befor I put money down on my sp700 I test rode everything out there. The first time you go out playing around on the rocks with someone with IRS youll be kicking yourself. The p700 are light and very fast but you should ride a few others out there befor butting your money down.

No contest! Compared to the prairie, the sportsman 700 feels like a tank.

No, wrong, I didn't get slammed by any fast talking salesman. I have owned 3 Polaris machines, I will never own another, the sportsman was never on my list of potential machines, I rode a grizzly, a rincon, and the prairie. wanted to try a new cat 650 but there isnt a cat dealer within a hour of home, none in my area stock atv's, I have 6 kawasaki dealers within one hour of home, my local dealer is 10 minutes away, I bought 3 big bore NINJA's there, its a small shop I deal directly with the owner, they treat me right. For what I do and where I ride the Prairie is the best thing out there, I need something thats got some sport attitude and a straight axle, don't do much riding in rocks of over logs and stuff where irs has the advantage, irs isn't quite where it needs to be yet, too much body roll in corners and off cambers

Hey Bill, how long and how many Polaris machines have you owned? How much time do you have on a Polaris? I have had 4 since 1996. I don't make a habit of bashing other peoples choices, but your post irks me, really rubs me the wrong way. The backbone of any ATV is the frame, do you want to hear about my nightmares with Polaris frames? The nightmare trying to get Polaris to stand behind their product?

You are right most of this thred is a waist of time at best. The know nothings that are posting have never ridden both or the quads and thire for are full of somthing other than facts. I run the local ATV club abd get to ride them all. All I will say is we now have 7 Paries in the club and 2 S700s no one in the clud has bought a S700 since the first Parie showed up . For the know nothings thats 6 to 0 for people that get to ride them both and compaire. 4 of then were Polairs owners that went to bigger quads.
