The 600 and 700's are shaft drive as well as the front on the 500's. Shaft meaning NO CHAIN!! I thought we already established that????

inside the tranny it has a chain. The drive to the rear diff on all utilities is shaft now but the 500 has a chain in the transmission right? You even said so yourself. I did my research. Sounds like your the one running your Keyboard!!!!!!!

Yadda yadda about the chain in the transmission. BFD! If i'm not mistaken, full size trucks, at least my 3/4 ton Suburban, have chains in their transfer cases (New Process 241?) to spin the front driveshaft, that turns the front differential, that spins the tires. So the Polaris 400/500 has a chain in the tranny. Enough already.

The Cat 650 was not detuned.
The Cat 650 does have lower gearing but just slightly not allot.
The Cat 650 will bring the front end off the ground easier than the Prairie 650.
My LE Cat comes in at 665 lbs dry not no 700 lbs as someone here quoted.
Top Speed on my Cat 650 is 61 mph, the best my Prairie 650 did was 64 mph.
Cat did beef up the axles on all of the '04 models.

AC650 all the way over the poor-o-laris. The v-twin will rock your world and if you want reliability, stay away from poor-o-laris.

You know hat the neat thing is? I have driven my old 400 Sportsman around stuck 650 prarries to winch them out and they dont have enough hands to opperate the winch, gas and locker unit at the same time to help winch them out.

Well guys, I was not able to make time to ride all the different makes or models so after listening to all of your in put, and reading every ATV Magazine, and all the forum threads I could find. I decided for the small amount of extra cash I should go for the gold, and get the open class 4x4 rather than the 500 AC or 500 Sportsman. This opened a new can of worms for me, which is when I decided I wanted the extra ground clearance of the IRS. After narrowing it down to that, I decided it was between the AC 650 and Yamaha Grizzly. Due in large part by what local dealers stocked, etc. Having previously owned a Husky dirt bike I was very un-happy not being able to go to more than one dealership for parts, etc. as this was prior to the Internet convenience. The AC is heavier than the Japanese bikes, and considerably lighter than the Polaris or Bomb. With the Japanese engine to rely on (no one can beat a Japanese engine for reliability), and American ingenuity for the frame & suspension set-up I figured I cant go wrong, wish me luck, thanks a bunch for all of your help.
