Sounds to me like someone trying to justify a purchase!

That said I agree that for the type of riding that YOU do the Griz would POSSIBLY be the best. I say possibly because with Arctic Cat coming out with a bike that has more horse power, torque, ground clearance than your Griz I think this one (with your beloved IRS) could outpace your quad of choice.

You fail to realize that not all of us ride over very large rocks or try to bury them in sink holes (some are smart enough to go around if possible).

For the riding I do my bike is perfect but that doesn't make yours pitifully insufficient. Enjoy what you ride
and let everyone else enjoy theirs.

If your hostility towards the Prairie is due to a couple of guys in your local club then by the way you talk you should be able to just leave them stuck on a trail or something while you go crawl over 10 ft tall rocks in a 15 ft deep mud hole while enjoying the ride of a Cadillac right?
Couple of things to inform you on, first, the Grizz will and DOES beat the AC650 in a drag race, second, the last part of your post you are exactly CORRECT, third, there is infact 2 guys with prairies that ride in our group, I find it rather amusing when we go riding justifying their purchase because they can't follow us!!! Last but not least when did I ever say anything about a prairie until now???? I could have been talking about another quad all together, YOU said prairie, but most importantly, there is a button on here that says REPLY, you DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT have to use it! That simple, it is not ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the Kawi riders in your group possibly choose not to follow in hopes that they may be spared from your insistant "my quad is better than your quad"?
As far as you not mentioning the Prairie it was only a matter of time before you did. Don't believe me.... go back and read your own posts.

So your Griz can out drag an AC650 huh? How about on the technical stuff? It has all of the goodies that your machine does only more of it but let me guess it still pales by comparison. **** from the sound of it when you pull off the seat there is a big "S" painted under it.

Maybe we should all get rid of anything that is different from yours. But wait.... then what would you b1tch about. Would you have to go to the Kids forum and preach to them the evils of a solid rear axle?

I apologize for getting your thong all in a wad DARIOT!!!! Actually the Prairies that ride with us are VERY nice people who always give me crap(jokingly) when they beat me down the straight aways, but the funny thing is, when they do finally stop, I am right behind them, but when we hit the technical stuff, they DONT follow us, not just me, but any of the IRS machines, I don't think I AM BETTER THAN THEY ARE, or that my GRIZZ is BETTER THAN THEIR PRAIRIE, however, the fact is, there is NOWHERE I can't go that they CAN, and there is places I CAN go that they CANNOT due to ground clearance!!!! It shouldnt be that hard to understand since you stated alot of things about the AC!!! When I would post things before about the Prairie, I simply posted those things because people were making the Prairie seem SO MUCH better than the other """"""""""""UTILITY"""""""""" machines simply because of how fast it was, isnt 4x4 UTILITY machines about WHERE it can go and not how FAST it can go, if speed is all that makes it better than wouldnt the YFZ, TRX450r, DS650, Banshee etc. be the better of the 2 quads???????? I have never once been one to ever JUSTIFY my purchase, I justify my purchase by enjoying riding it!!!!!!!!! Maybe its not ME who is justifying my purchase at all, instead it is you!!!!!!!!! When it comes to techinical riding, the fact is GROUND CLEARANCE makes a difference!!! ALSO, if your a mag believer like most, the go and pick up one of the latest FOURWHEELIN magz, in it they had a shootout between the H2 humvee and the H1 humvee, now which one of those 2 do you think won in the technical stuff???????? I'm curious of why the military chose INDEPENDENT versus the "tried and true" Straight Axle???????

I don't have to READ about how the HMMWV handles the technical stuff. I have driven them for years. They are wonderful, but they are awfully heavy and slow. Not attributes you want when the **** gets deep and you are out gunned!

As far as you not being able to go where they can how about going to the front of the pack on a straightaway? I know I know speed isn't your thing......blah , blah, blah,,,....

I'm done

I've written a explaination of what drives this it is in the ATV addiction section under warning. Tellico I hate to agree with these guys and sound like I'm trying to fight with you. I'm not but I keep seeing your posts show up when ever someone says anything about how good they think their Prairie is. Seems to really hit a nerve with you, I think maybe the frequency of the V-Twin exhaust note must trigger some horrible childhood memory that causes you to flame out. Must have first noticed this noise really bothered you about the time the magazines all picked the Prairie as their shoot out winners. A simular problem appeared for many Prairie owners when Honda came out with the Rincon and the mags payed it homage picking it their shoot out as the winner. Caused Prairie owners to become irrational over the sound of that transmission and any mention of the machine caused a typing frenze. This afliction goes away to be replaced with a new one when the mags start worshipping another new wonder quad. The sport quad guys are having a terrible time since the mags can't decide if the new Honda 450 or the Yamaha 450 is the best. Driving them totally crazy since to top it off they know Suzuki is going to come out with a 450 any day. Some of this can be explained by the ink that rubbs of on your fingers when you drool on the magazine pictures (causes terrible chemical fumes that depending on you body chemistry can really react in terrible ways) There is a version of this reaction that effects all the quad owners I know mention Tree Hugger and the chemicals we have inhaled really gets to us and we all flip out. So this is more of a I understand than an attack on you.

It really comes down to the riding style of the owner more than what some bike jockeys at the magazines thinks. Not to mension brand loyalty. If you do a lot of sport riding, then yes, the obvious answer would be solid axles rule. Now if you are the kind of person who is like me and enjoys crawling over anything that hasn't moved sence I squared up to it, then IRS rules.
It doesn't matter if were talking about a 125 or a 700, a solid or IRS. THEY ALL HAVE THEIR PLACE ON THE PLAYGRAOUND!
Another thing to keep in mind is that you may be the biggest and the baddest on the block TODAY, but, EVENTUALLY A BIGGER AND BADDER KID IS GOING TO MOVE IN RIGHT NEXT DOOR.

JUST RIDE

Speed isnt my thing, front of the pack????? Is that hard to do????? I run at the front of my pack of 40+ people during my state races, sometimes with an UNDERPOWERED bike!!!! I'll definately go down the straightaway, you ride your beloved prairie and i'll ride my YFZ!!! So basically waht your saying is the ONLY good atribute that the Praire has that mine doesnt is in the straighaways???? LOL!!! You definately made a GREAT point, and you are right, because thats ALL it can do better and even you realize that but not going to admit it!!!

DirtVH, I completely understand what you mean as "harsh" as it was!!!!! What truly "strikes a nerve" isnt so much the machine itself, but the people who ride it! Not all, but most!!!!!! I try to make a very simple point and most of the Prairie owners either can't believe or don't want to believe it!!!! What exactly is a Utility machines purpose???? A speed demon??? NO!!! It has 4x4, low range, and a diff lock!!! ALL wonderful features for any quad in my opinion, but the fact remains its a UTILITY machine, not a race car!!!!! When they do shootouts, and I know they are magz and somewhat biased on alot of their conclusions, but the Prairie only wins in the drag races, it handles better----TO THEM. My grizz handles just fine for me as does the Polaris's I have ridden!!! NOW YOU MENTION HEARING THAT VTWIN EXHAUST NOTE, I USED TO OWN A HONDA RC51, which if your not familiars is a 1000cc Streetbike VTWIN, its exhaust note as WELL AS MY YZ450F's both running on 112octane would make the Prairie sound like one of those electric powered ninjas!!!!! Trust me sound is not an issue!!!!!!! I "strike my nerve" when someone thinks the Prairie is better than the IRS machines because it can go from one point A to point B just a little faster than my grizz, but the PRAIRIE CANNOT "GET" FROM POINT A TO POINT B, due to lack of ground clearance, HOW would you consider the Prairie the winner if the other machines can DO ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, the prairie can and then the Kawi NOT be able to EVERYTHING THE IRS machines CAN do???? Thats what 'strikes the nerve"! I'm not hating on you by any means, but maybe you and others really can understand the point I have tried numerous times(as mentioned by my fan club) to get across to people, its not a matter of mine is better than yours or even justifying that your purchase was a bad one, just admit when I'm right, cuz I'll definately admit when I am wrong!!!!! AGAIN, NOT HATING ON THE MACHINE, cuz I have ridden one and I would definately own one!!! I only BASH the RIDERS of those machines!!!!! 2 guys out of our riding group are 2 of the best friends I could ever ask for and we ever ride race and try to outride the other, maybe its just my experience and their lacking but the Prairie isnt really that much faster than the grizz, and trust me they both JOKE around with me when the beat me, they have pulled me out of mudholes and I have pulled them out of mudholes, I have winched them up the trails I ride and vice versa, but when it comes right down to it, BOTH of them will tell any of you that the IRS machines will go further through technical terrain than will a straight rear axled quad, that goes for any SRA quad, not just the prairie!!!! I have 4 other vehicles for speed and it is truly speed the VTWIN Kawi will never have!!! So I'm not worried about going fast or do I care whether the TRX is faster than my YFZ, I love all my bikes, they all serve a purpose and serve it well, not a day goes by that I dont have a smile on my face after I go riding and the same for my Prairie riding friends!!!!! In the end its all about enjoyment!!!
