Actually, there is this old woman that lives across the street that whenever I ride my Mx bikes, the law is usually sitting at the top of the road to catch me, but there are so killer trails around the house that I usually loose them!!!! BUT, down here in AL the sound ordinance law only comes into affect after 10pm, so throughout the day, I'll take my bike to the front of the hosue and point the rear end toward her house and REV it all the way to 13K!!! LOL!!!!!!!!! I'm sure she loves that, but theres nothing she can do!!!!!! Does that make me a bad person??????? I mean if there is more than 3 cars in the yard she has actually called the law saying we were doing drug deals when its actaully only my family coming over to see me!

OMG all this talking **** and yall aint getting no where. Whoever likes straight axles, ride on them and IRS shut the hell up. Whoever likes to ride IRS, ride on them and straight axles shut the hell up. They all have there advantages and disadvantages on each other so neither is the best. I dont care what quad you got and what modifications you have, theres someone out there that will outperform you, outrun you, and just plain bust your a$$. I ride straight axle and I enjoy it and thats all that matters, next quad I buy will also have straight axle becuz its going to be some kind of sport quad.

Having had a Grizzly for some time and now owning a 700 Prairie. I like the solid axle for the type of riding that I do. I like to ride fast and climb hills something the Prairie outshines the Grizzly in every time. Now if I were still a mudder or did a lot of rock crawling the Grizzly or another IRS quad would be better. There is a down side to all that ground clearance, travel and articulation, just as there is a downside to no GC and a solid axle. It all comes down to where you ride and what you like to ride. You also have to figure brand loyalty in there somewhere too. Me I don't care what it says on the side of the tank as long as it does what I want it to.

They took the Dodge Viper GTS with a straight rear axled and ALOT more hp and raced it against the Mustang Cobra R with a straight rear axle and 385hp and the the Corvette ZO-6 with 385HP and INDEPENDENT REAR suspension, on the Road Course the Vette beat BOTH the Viper and the Cobra R test after test with 4 different drivers, 2 of the drivers race the INDY league and the others race those import cars!!!!!!! SO INDEPENDENT can win races!!!! I forgot which site it is that has all those video's of drag racing and stuff but it has it on there where you can download it and watch it!

That goes to show that the reasont that the vette won was not solely based upon its IRS. I believe the shootout, just not the reason posted for the results. Not to mention the fact that those 3 cars are drastically different in their conception and design. If you wanted to really test IRS you would need to do it in 2 identical cars.
To get to the real subject, UTILITY ATV's, IRS has its advantages and downsides. It allows for greater ground clearance, making them great for the mud and nasty stuff. The ride quality is typically better, but sometimes too soft. Performance wise you dont really lose much, if any at all. Plus, we are talking about Utility quads. The other major downside is that because of the higher clearances and the simple physics of an INDEPENDANT rear suspenion, they can be tippy at high speed or on very steep grades. It really depends ont he type of riding you plan to do. If you are going to be cruising trails the irs would make it smoother. If you plan on steep stuff or high speed cornering a lot, you might want the solid axle.
Polaris (IRS) is typically considered the best atv for towing. The Prarie/twin peaks (strait) is very quick and has won many gncc utility classes. The grizzly and AC utes (IRS)are good in the mud and nasty stuff. There are more, it depends on how big of a quad you are looking for. Riding them is important too. IRS may make it too soft for you, or you may like the smoother ride so much you wont be able to understand why you ever owned anything else.
