I put them in my gloves before I back the quad out. Works pretty fair for me.
A lot better than nothing.

One note: Beware of the cheap heated grips. I hear the heating elements burn out very quickly.
Then you are back to a cheap grip with no heat.

Riding in the snow is great. We have about 2 feet on the ground now and it makes it a little tough. If you get too cold just drive off the trail, get stuck and push and pull your atv until you are warm again (careful not to sweat).

EasterEgg: I think you are right because when I get stuck in the snow it will be summer before we will get it free. LOL Never got stuck in the snow yet with my 589 even off the trail so all I do is hook an extra 4 or 5 bikes behind me and that warms me up a bit. I find the cheap handwarmers are better for me because every may I take em back off to save weight. LOL I preffer stock grips although I just seen a nice pair of soft grips that had the heated grips in em.

snowmobile trails are a dangerous place for a quad, sometimes a soft spot ( any spot that has not been packed or groomed) will let a quad drop through on a wheel, if any speed is involved a serious spill can happen. most places will not let quads use their trails because a quad breaking through the trail can leave a wheel track that is deep and long enough to let a ski drop through and catching on the end of the wheel track causing a spill or ripped off ski. use respect and check if the sled trail is open to quads.

The areas we were riding are dirt roads in the summertime. they close them in the winter because they don't plow them. I can ride on the groomed snowmobile trails here if a buy a snowmobile tag. Most the counties in Idaho will let you ride quad there if you buy the tag. For the most part I avoid them because the sleds come down those trails way to fast and you can't get out of the way fast enough on a quad. The sleds ride on the snow cover unmaintained roads too but they expect slower moving vehicles on these roads and generaly don't go as fast. Sometimes guys in lifted 4x4s with big tires venture up these places too. they seem to get stuck quit a bit though. My powerstroke has 33s but I sure wouldn't want to stick that heavy beast in 2+ feet of snow. We were going to ride some of the trails were there aren't very many sleds but we have had so much wind I'm afraid there would be too much drifting and I only have a winch on one of the quads.
