first service 700 efi
#1
i am in the middle of my first service on my 700 efi. i have all the plastic, racks, winch, tires, pretty much everything off. besides the basic p.m. is there anything that i should do or check. i have changed the oil, filters, greased the few zercks. i have been in alot of water, deep water, and am wondering if it is necessary to change out the diff. oils from the manufactar and put another oil in. i.e. amzoil synthetics.....the manual that you get from the dealer isn't really worth anything. so if anyone knows where i can get a service manual or cdrom for my 04 sportsman.
i will say one more thing. i love my sportsman. best machine i have ever been on. mudd, water, sand dunes, farm chores. most comfortable, quad i have personally put to work. thanks for any help, and remember the summer is almost over and snow will start falling to get back on the sleds......

If you've been in lots of water, I would change out ALL the fluids. Not sure what else the EFI gets for its first service though. Your dealer SHOULD be able to get you a service manual. I would suggest posting this in the Polaris forum. You will probably get more advice on it.

Check the condition of your fuel line coming from your fuel filter to the fuel rail that connects to the injectors. I found this info posted on another ATV forum and sure as $h!t it was bad on mine with slightly more than 100 miles. The fuel line rubs on the edge of the frame where it is run with some hoses and wires. They put a small rubber pad on the frame where it contacts but the fuel line was still almost rubbed all the way through. It was already through the reinforcing chords in the high pressure line. The fuel filter is located under the front rack and plastic body panel right next to the radiator fill neck. You need to check it in two places. One about six inches from the fuel filter on the throttle side of the ATV and then it runs to the opposite side and under the snorkle for the cvt. Near the snorkle is where I found my bad spot. It's a small piece of frame that it rubs on and like I said they put a small rubber pad on it to protect it but it wore anyway. I replaced it with some high pressure fuel line( the EFI runs 39PSI of fuel pressure) and cable tied some rubber hose around it where it could rub on anything. Remember, my ATV only has 106 miles on it and it was ready to go already. Check it. You will need to feel the fuel line to find it, you really can't see it all that well, and be thorough. There is a lot of people who have had the same problem on the other forum.
