deadman anchor for winching
Hi we have these things we use that work great. The one's at work are for very heavy machines..but a smaller one would work great for wheelers. They are a straight piece of metal ___________> With a large D-ring on one end. In the metal there are holes drilled on an angle (forward ) to place spikes in to anchor the piece like this \ \ \ \ \ so when you pull on the D-ring the spikes just bit in harder. It is kind of hard to explain...I hope this makes some sense.

I have used a fluke anchor with my truck, to good effect.
It does not work as well in mud/sand but in rocky territory there is usually many a place it will wedge in and hold.
Do NOT stand near your winch or cable under tension, cause when it slips out, it does so to dramatic effect!

I saw this deadman on the web and it is a little cheaper ($88 US) than the one listed earlier.
