Default Wheel Spacers (Highlifter)

I will be ordering my wheel spacers this week.

Highlifter has a kit for a set of 1" and a set of 1.5"

Question:

Should I get 1" for front and 1.5" for back or 1.5" all the way around???????

What is the normal set up for utility atv's..

Thank in advace for ya'lls help.....

I would think if you are keeping everything else proportional, like instead of 10" and 8" wide tires using 12" and 10" wide then I would use the same width spacer on both front and back. I have 1" HL spacers all the way around on my quad.

DKNARND, Howd you like the spacers? Did it improve the handling, or feel more stable? Any problems, like fitting in the truck, or riding in the ruts?

Is there any significant benefit to wheel spacers besides being able to get a new bite in mud and not travel the same, chewed-up ruts the other guys are? I've also heard they are hard on some parts of the machine.

Lomax: Magnolia is about 25 miles Northwest of Houston. Surrounding cities are Tomball, Spring, Rosehill..

Kawasakirules: I paid $89.00 per set from Berts Dirt Works in Spring TX.. You should see some of the bikes that come out of there. They are unbelievable. If you want to just go to there website. www.bertsdirtworks.com

Redgoblin: The spacers will give you a wider stance and also give better clearance for larger tires which is my next mod. I already put on the liftkit so to keep the bike propotional I needed to make wider. Yes wide wheel base is better for going on old trails. The only negative I can find is your not as narrow anymore so some tight spots going in the woods... The overall best thing about the spacers in my opinion is it just makes your bike look a whole lot meaner....

hondabuster, The spacers add to the stability of the machine in offcamber situations. If you are going with aftermarket wheels it will do the same thing, generally the wheels will add about 3" or 4" of width plus larger tires will add another couple of inches of width to that. I did not want the amount of width the aftermarket wheels add to the machine so I stayed with stock wheels and added the 1" spacer plus the larger tires the combination added 4" of overall width to my quad. After the installation of the spacers and larger tires I had to readjust my toe-in to get the quad to handle correctly. The combination of spacers and larger tires in front has created some bump steer effect but manageable after the toe-in adjustment. The spacers will probably add some stress to your wheel bearings that may make them wear quicker, the wider you go the quicker they will go. I am of the opinion that the High Lifter spacers are the best type that you can get, meaning that they are solid aluminum that bolt to your existing studs and have other studs installed for the wheels to mount to. Stay away from the spacers that just screw onto your studs and extend them.
