Default possibly in the market soon

ok guys, im hoping to pay off the scrammy then sell it (in the mean time i hafta baby it). the scramblers great for what its made for, but i really do need more of a utility. the lack of a low range, low GC, and lack of function are all bugging me. for a trail rider its great, but most of our riding is at 3-4 mph, so its kinda a pain. in the open its a blast to ride no question.

im not lookin at any polaris right now. im not impressed with their belt system at all. i prefer the instant lock up of the others, not the smooth power. that and the weight.

im really lookin at a grizz right now, just cuz my luck with yamaha in the past has been great. my kodiak did 5200 and kept comin for more. ive thought about the kodiak 450, but going from my scrambler to that would just be disappointing, and if theyre both IRS, ill just go with the grizz.

as for the KQ700....i was looking at this, but ive heard too many stories of a lag in the low end. that and i dont know about reliability. my friend had an 86 quadrunner 250 4x4....motor was junk.... only had bout 3000 miles on it. the vinson looked good (manual), but the lack of a diff lock is disappointing. my kodiak didnt have one either though, and it still went more places than any other, but on occasions it screwed me over.

im not really lookin at a kawie either, as the BF has poor handling, and i just wasnt impressed with them.

arcit cat.....i have no clue about these..good or bad?

honda....no powerful big bore....no offense but that rincon is sad in the motor dept.

bombardier......only a 400 is the good ATV, and ive heard bad things.

any suggestions at all please.....im looking for a sporty 4wd, but more utility.

Yeah, the prairie is a very powerful mechine. My buddy has one and it is pretty impresive, but i got the 450 Kodiak kinda family ride for my 8 year old and my wife, so far its been great no problems exempt for a headlight bulb.

the prairie would make a great choice. They are reliable and powerfull. When doing your slow trail riding keep them in low. as long as your in low, youll have no problems with the kawies

Gopher,

Why would dissapointed with a kodiak 450? I know it is a smaller engine than you scrammy, but they are still pretty powerful. If you think it is to small, take the griz for a ride. The griz IMO is the best overall bigbore on the market and I have ridden most of them.

i owned an 02 kodiak, and i really am looking a LOT bigger of a motor....the 400 was fun and all....but not quite enough. the grizzly is a real strong candidate, but the IRS is scarin me......

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..

I have ridden almost all the machines as I am in the industry...

I agree with some of the others that the 650 Prairie now called the Brute Force 650 is the ticket.... It has the solid axle that you and I both crave...

I actually sold my 650 Prairie and bought a 500 Vinson... I love it as well.... it has been great.. But the POWER of the 650 and or 700 V Twin is awesome..

Go ride the 500 Vinson,,, if it has enough Power for you.. it is perfect... I wish it had a bit more... but all in all a very nice machine..

Ratchet and Gopher

Ratchet I don't know if you are mocking me, but disregard my post a couple above this one. My roommate decided to post under my name because I was logged in, instead of making his own.

I like the Grizzly, but I really don't what is the best on the market now, I have ridden quite a few but definately not all of them. That was someone elses very biased opinion.

Gopher, my best advice is test drive then choose.

Ryan

I had done everything but load an 04 LE vinson into the truck when I found a dealer that would let me ride one. I got on it and really like the the power and responsive handling. It felt a tad top heavy but nothing serious, I was happy with my pending purchase.

Then the dealer pulled out a twin peaks... Long story short there is a Prairie 700 in my stable now and I cant think of another utility atv I'd give it up for.

The vinson is a great machine and I would have been very happy with it. But I got spoiled when I got on that twin peaks.
