Customizing 2005 Kodiak 450
#12
Okay,
I am extremely tired of these accusations, so, I will do the only logical thing, and post pictures so Skoolboy will shut up. Now, let me ask you another thing Skoolboy, if I have a Kodiak, and a Raptor, do you think that I have any intention of paying for my own car. If you do, then your wrong. Look where I live, Greenwich, CT. I'm telling you everyone on here is a skeptic, or possibly its just jealousy. Anyway, Im going to go and take those pictures now so that Skoolboy wil shut up, and perhaps even post an apology. Oh, and the guy I won with, is my best friend, so he's not really worried about me stealing his money. I think that the thing to realize here is that we don't care about investing or any of that crap. We're kids, we want to have fun, sure we're getting cars in a few months, but does that mean you stop liking ATV's? I know people on this forum that are in their 50's and still love riding. It doesn't change just because you got a car. If anything it makes it more accessible to all the LEGAL trails and what not. It's still going to be two best friends heading out for a day of fun on the trails. I'll be posting shortly.

lol its alright citation that i caught ya...and like i said before it might be true....just prolly not...but then again u say your from CT so chances of it your mommy and daddy are paying for everything, jealously on that fact, ya..seeing that my parents have never bought me a dang thing before..but im only 20 and work a full time job and get to enjoy my 04 raptor, my 05 griz, and my 03 s10 ZR2... so when u write back explain where your money flow is coming..and if i see reasonable pictures with u and ur friend in them, ill say sorry....

i am wondering a few things. i understand the money, and the wants for these items. why pay others to mount them for you. most are plug and play.
what you might want to do is look at a few boating places. they have units that offer alot of things into a tight, waterproof box. i know they have waterproof gps units, with radio's installed, in a tight package. once you have purchaced the items you want installed, then look on here, or on other boards for help with pro instolation. with enough serching, you can probibally come up with a helmet radio with a scanner inserted into it. also the ability to communicate with your fellow rider.
by buying these items seperatly, yourself, you will save money. then you can mount the easy stuff yourself, or hire a shop in the neighborhood to do it. like a radio shop, or a body shop. i wish i lived close to you, couse i would live the money to customize your ride. its quite easy, and making it look and work properly is not much work at all. cost on install should be alot less that if you stated the items you wanted, and had a shop buy and install them. it is standard to charge at least 20% above cost just for buying it for you.

well, ( trying not to sound like a father here, lol) knowledge is power. if you rely on everyone else to tell you what you want, they your taking there word for it. hang on to the money for a few, and search the internet. learn about differant gps units, as well as waterproofing units/scanners/radio packages. take that time, and you will be much better off. i used to run, now i walk. slowly is better than fast, when spending good money.
just my 02, hope i helped.

I definately know what you are saying, but by the same token, there are some things that are better left to the professionals. Say I install a GPS Unit, and do it wrong, and one day out in the woods the power to it gets shot, or even worse my main battery dies on me. Then what am I supposed to do? If a professional does it, someone that does this every day of their life, the risk of that happening is much less. Even for the extra 20% if something does happen to the unit, they are responsible for that, and it is their responsibility to get it fixed. Simple as that. When I make that sort of arrangement and papers are signed, that is certainly something that will be in there, for at least a two year period. After that, the equipment will be so outdated anyway, that I will need to replace it. If one person does everything, then that one person is responsible in the event of a problem. Do you see what I am getting at?
