Customizing 2005 Kodiak 450
#21
My Raptor is in the shop right now, but as soon as it comes back Ill be more than happy to put them on here. As for your other remark, it is much easier to hook up a Raptor than a Kodiak. Firstly, if I just wanted an engine rebuilt, then yes I would just take it to my local guy. My Raptor has all kinds of aftermarket parts, that are typically able to be installed by any shop. What I am trying to do with the Kodiak requires an entire fabrication of mounts, brackets, plus the modifying of parts, as there is no such thing as a IR Heat Seeker for an ATV. It's all custom. On the Raptor however, the aftermarket parts are simply installed, they are designed for the unit itself. Understand the difference genius?

Citation,
use "Never Dull" on the wheels to polish them when they get dull. My wife has an '05 Kodiak that is exactly like yours, except that we have Maxxis Sur-Trak tires on those wheels instead of 589s.
You may want to try Dennis Kirk, Montana Jacks, or Alba Racing to see if they could help you with the modifications you have mentioned.
But if I had $20K to dump on a Kodiak 450 I could think of lots of things better than a police scanner to spend the money on. How about calling Elka Suspension and having them build you a one-off $3000 set of fully custom shocks? And how about calling Four Stroke Tech and having them build you a 550cc big bore sleeve, piston, camshaft, and valvesprings, so you can double the horsepower in that bad boy? I completely agree with you that the Kodiak 450 has the best chassis for a hardcore 4x4 ATV. The Prairie 700 has a better sport 4x4 chassis, but the Kodiak 450 chassis is perfect for a utility 4x4, so until Yamaha puts the 660cc Grizzly engine in the Kodiak 450 chassis, you can have a Kodiak 450 with enough horsepower to beat a Grizzly, and it would still handle like a mid-size Kodiak 450, only better because of the custom suspension.
Anyway, good luck if you really do have that $20K.
