#1
I have just gotten a new 2005 yamaha grizzly. I was wondering if anyone has found any flaws or anything rong with it. What are your likes and dislikes. I didnt realy get to ride it hard because its not broken in yet but still so far i like it.

As with any make and model, some last longer than others, some have more problems than others, but inconsistent from my many years of riding experience...
the Grizzly is a great machine, i don't think there is any common problems, different problems on each, some say suspension problems, some say carb and motor, others have other problems....but they are no different than any other manufacturers models....
I think you'll love it, I looked at them prior to buying a '05 Polaris 700 EFI....the reason I went with the EFI was because I live in New Mexico, I mainly ride in the mountains from 4500-13000 feet in altitude...it works great. I've owned 3 Polaris's now, no problems at all, I take good care of all my machines, do fluid changes more often than recommended, clean the machine after almost every ride, etc. I've only had one lemon machine, a Honda 450....that was just the push-button shifter that didn't work for crap...but my other Honda was great. I have friends that have Grizzlies and love them....you should be happy with it...

Older models had overheating issues, but this has been resolved. If there is one remaining ***** in the armor it would be the smallish axles Yamaha uses. People who do a lot of mudding seem to change the axles to the Gorilla axles with excellent results. I have a 2004 that I put over 1000 miles on last year. Only problem has been a faulty #1 thermoswitch.

They're pretty cold blooded. I highly reccomend going to a platinum spark plug. Ride it like you're going to ride it. Very your speed for the first few miles, let it warm up then cool down a couple times, then ride the thing.
The stock tires suck, expecially in the mud. Get some 26" Dirt Devils. Better ride, better clearance and better traction.
