Default Crossing Rivers- help!

Basically I ain't going anywhere unless I can cross rivers with my 3 yamaha atvs here in alaska. The 2005 Grizzly does great. The 2004 Bruin and 2004 Kodiak suck. After crossing 20-30 ft of deep water they suck so much water into the V belt case that they no go, obviously. Are there any modifications I can make? Also are there any modifications I can make to prevent the air filter box from filling with water? Suggestions appreciated, thanx!

looks like you will have to install a snorkel kit of some kind, probably rubber hose or plastic pipe.

yeah a snorkle sounds llike what you need. If your going through really deep water you might want to think about relocating the rad..

Pakrat,

Where are you from and where do you ride? I ride here in Alaska too. There are a few people I ride with that own Kodiaks & Bruins and they don't seem to have problems with their belts that I know of? I guess some kind of snorkel is a way to go but not sure it would be worth the work.

Ya I wouldn't have no problems with water in the belt if I'd stay the heck outa deep rivers. I live out in the valley on the Knik River, right on the river close to the bridge.

Not a bad place to live because you can ride all the time. I live in Anchorage so I have to pack the ATV every time I want to ride.

Pakrat, I was just looking around for some new ideas about a snorkel for my p650 and came across a complete kit for your bruin @ www.setxatv.com ...IMO it's pricy but it has everything you need. I found out on Thursday that my p650 can't swim as good as I thought, so when I get through pumping the water outta its lungs I will be doing both an intake and belt case snorkle.

a snorkel would be great,,,,sure

I would be sure all the plumbing for the belt cover breather is sealed properly also

Our scrammy had 2 sorry zip ties that failed us on the 1st fast puddle Julie found.

Thanks for the Link Gougeonit. They show all their parts and I shouldn't have no problem rounding them up myself cheaper. Going to put snorkles on my Bruin, Kodiak and Grizz before breakup. Then stick a snorkel on my head and I'll be all ready. I hate turning around because of rivers.
