I think a few companies use to make 250cc 4wd setups. Artic Cat is one and Polaris use to make a 250 2 stroke 4wd. These are the two that come to mind that I know of. Might be more but I'm unsure of others so someone else might be a few more.

I have the arctic cat 250 4x4. Although it's primary use is my pit vehicle at my jet ski races, I have a plow on it and it pushes snow with no problem. I have had it in some mud and again it's done fine. You can always use more power though!!

A lot of people were hoping for 2005 Honda was going to offer a Recon 4x4.
Do they sell many Timerwolf 4x4?

The smallest 4x4 atv currently being offered is the artic cat 250 manual 4x4 with H/L range. Polaris used to offer a 2-stroke 250 4x4, but I don't think they do anymore. As far as anything under 350cc being to small for a 4x4, that may be true for some applications, but if you are in 4x4 with the artic cat 250, you just run it in low range and you have plenty of power to use. And, one of the die-hard 4x4's out there has been the honda rancher 350......BUT IT IS REALLY A 300-325 RANGE MOTOR BECAUSE IT IS ONLY 329CC'S.
