Default how to fix loose balljoint stud

its a kmz 150. the top balljoint stud is loose in the ?spindle?...the wheel moves in and out at the top and makes a clunk sound. The metal is thick there where it clamps around the stud. Do I just tighten the bolt? will the metal squeeze tighter?
