hey, i know this is 4 wheeler forum but does anyone know whats wrong with my 1972-3 yamaha sl338 . Its got spark and gas so why wont it start?

If you have spark and fuel, and it wont start...look for low compression, or bad timing.

well, to check for bad compresion, u need a compression tester that screws in where the spark plug goes.

checking compression is easy. Get a nice kit, not a 20 or $25 cheapo tester. I bought mine from Sears for I think 50 bucks. Snap-On makes a nice one too. But be sure it's one that screws into the spark plug hole, like mentioned above.

Is it old gas? Has it been sitting? Try spraying a little starting fluid in the carb.
