A lot of factors come into play (terrrain/grade, altitude, temps/humidity) but the biggest in their results is they only did a short run of a couple hundred yards.

It takes a lot of realestate to get them in the 60's, i had my sp700 up to around 65 (speedo toped out) but it took a loooong streatch of flat road.

Its also due in part to not wanting the media and big brother to get more involved, kind of like auto makers that use to conservativly rate the hp numbers low on muscle cars because of the insurance companies and goverment.

point taken. you're right about it taking a long time to get to the top speed, but in the mag they said that the machines were topped out. also, when they answered my letter in the next issue, they said "you shuold feel lucky that your grizzly and king quad can go that fast because neither i, nor anyone i know has ever gone that fast on those quads."

They top them out in a limited space........so its not really topped out.
We should all write that mag and tell them they wont sell another mag to any of us treating you like that.
Most never have all their facts straight anyway.

well, i know that i'm done with them, seeing that they wouldn't admit that they're wrong.

kodiak660, is that sarcasm? if not, you're right. their are many other atv mags out there that are more deserving of your money. btw, have you ever seen their tv show?.....hahahaha......ok i will try to stop cutting them down..........but, you know how that goes!

Hard pavement is about the only place you can get that sort of speed at all.

Of course, you now have a top heavy, unstable, twitchy, 800 pound vehicle, with 5psi in the rather squishy tires, going 60-70 mph. One good sneeze and it's all over.
