Just stopped by the local dealer, the bracket that holds my Kimpex handwarmer rheostat busted.

Anyway, he had one of 300 or so Bombardier 800s in the US. A yellow one.

If they offer the 3 year warranty (I think wise with a new model), it is definately worth a look.

Most everything I liked they kept (inboard discs, TTI, spar frame, visco-lock, rear fuel tank, etc), some of the stuff I didn't like has been improved like the small plastic racks are bigger and metal, excellent radial tires. Engine is a lot more compact than I thought it would be, the belt drive cover doesn't suck up as much of the floorboard as some I've seen on some other machines.

No test rides though.....He said production units will be available September or October in our area

He said this one (with a winch) would be around 9,100 USD, ouch

I would like to direct all those who are opposed to me saying that the reverse issue is done over to Nyroc's forum. It's atv.dnsalias.com. Please refer to the thread entitled "brute force vs. kingquad final draw" and look at some of the later posts. Many people consider Nyroc to be a very informative and influential figure on ATVs from what he has done on this forum before he left it. He is currently wanting to buy a KingQuad in the worst way and has kept up with every update and knows as much or more about them than any King owner. He is fully aware of the reverse "issues." I would like you to see his take on the situation, as well as Bleedsblue's. After you've seen this, I would then like to point you to a thread entitled "need kq advice" in the HighLifter forum. Maybe then you'll see what I mean. CaptainQuint says anyone who knowingly purchased a King with the old vin is utterly stupid. Well I'm one of them and I have absolutely NO regrets or even second thoughts.

Default Help my dad pick a new big-bore.

Dammit, gentlemen, with a thread like this, how am I ever going to decide what ATV to get?! I am in the market for a new big bore. I had narrowed my search to two choices: Yamaha Grizzly or Suzuki King Quad. I will not consider Polaris, Arctic Cat, Bombardier, or Honda for various reasons. I even wrote a post inquiring about the very issues discussed in this thread in another forum (Suzuki KQ vs. Yamaha Grizzly - Buying a New ATV - See excerpt below). But, I got one response back. Would anyone care to address some of the questions I presented on this thread? Red Goblin has already shed some light for me on the KQ reverse situation in a prior post, which I appreciate very much. Please see below:

"So, I have heard that Suzuki's fix to the 2005 reverse problem has been to limit the amount of available power while in reverse, and that a timer (60 sec.) has been implemented while using reverse in override mode. I have read where some have said that it is only a temporary solution and that Suzuki is working on a better, more permanent fix. Others have stated that the current fix is what will remain. I have been trying to find information on the Grizzly in such regard. I know that the Grizzly and the KQ are very similar machines, and they are the two that I have narrowed down in my search for a new big bore quad. Does the Grizzly operate in a similar fashion as to how the updated KQ currently works with respect to reverse? Is reverse in the Grizzly limited like it is in the KQ? Does the Grizzly have a timing feature like the KQ? In general, how does the reverse operation compare between the two machines? Which do you believe has the better, more reliable reverse system now? Thanks for any insight anyone would like to share."

All I want to say is that if you are split between a Grizzly and a KingQuad, it would absolutely have to be the KingQuad in my honest opinion. I have ridden a Grizzly many a time because my friend has one and they are a very nice machine. They are the same price and all the KingQuad is, is an improved Grizzly in every aspect. Better power, better suspension, better handling, EFI and a sealed clutch-type rear brake system that requires absolutely no maintenance until 6,000 miles under normal riding conditions. For the same MSRP as the Grizzly, I just think the choice is so clear. The only thing the Grizz may have going for it over the King is that it has a slightly smoother ride, but it sacrifices good handling and stability for that. You can say I'm biased towards a King all you want because I own one, but I was in your shoes just a month ago and I got the Suzuki for a reason. I did TONS of research and you won't go wrong with a King if you like both it and the Grizzly. Goblin= 2 cents

I also believe that Bombardier Outlander 800efi is the best big bore atv on the market right now!
Try it, and you will see! I'm also an atv 4x4 big bore enthusiast and tried every one of them out there, and the Outty 800 is simply phenomenal!

Goblin:

MSRP cannot really be argued in this case. I live in California, where everything is over-priced with respect to other parts of the country. Dealers out here won't drop much below MSRP. However, I am originally from KY and I will be travelling back that way for the holidays. If I want a Grizzly, I can swing by Abernathy's and pick one up at over a thousand off of MSRP. I haven't been able to find any such deals on the KQ. That actually means that I could have a Grizz for a whole lot less than a KQ. Price is not a huge issue though, but being able to save multi-hundreds on price can tend to sway me from one bike to another. I see that you are in Illinois. Any good deals that you know of on the KQ back that way (a deal comparable to Abernathy's)?

I hear you on the Bomb, but I would never consider one. Furthermore, one of my best friends from back home just bought a brand new 2005 Honda Rubicon yesterday. He also has a 2005 Kawasaki Brute Force 750, which he does not like and will be getting rid of now that he has the Rubicon. The dealer where he bought the Rubicon told him that under no circumstances whatsoever would they take a used Polaris, Arctic Cat, or Bomb ATV in on trade! Their reasoning is because each of those three brands do not hold up as well as other manufacturers (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki), and that as a result they have a heck of a time trying to get rid of them. In other words, nobody wants a used Polaris, AC, or Bomb. That says a lot about quality and impression.

The best deal we found, especially if you're coming from the west, was at any of the three Pro Cycles in Missouri. I know one was in Columbia and there were two more, but if you get ahold of them I'm sure you can find the others. All the same price though and I believe it really was a great price for a King unless they've upped it since.
