If your engine stalls, bogs, or hesitates when you start off or nail it before a mud pit your carb is off - its the calibration, not because its a carb

yes toyboye, they are close to the same weight, +11 lbs for the KQ isn't that much. Not knocking the KQ as it has it's advantages (the blacked out one looks great too), but the smaller size of the Kodiak makes it easier to ride fast in the woods around here. Anyone can nail it in a field or logging roads so I guess if that's where you ride who cares how big it is. The King Quad is over 4" wider, its taller and longer too. It makes a difference, you should see the rims and tie rods on my buddies AC 500i from bouncing off granite and trees - and that thing is a hair narrower than the KQ.

The Woverine is 86 lbs lighter and even smaller, but he was thinking IRS - which won't handle better because of the roll. That's why I mentioned the Kodiak. If I was to recommend any other quad around the 450ccs he said, I'd say take your chances with the Outlander 400.

These smaller machines are just plain better in the tight woods around in N.E., but nothing 450 is a stump puller - you can't have it all.

Okay I understand what your saying. It's just that 400-450cc class utes seem so underpowered to me, there simply wasn't much of a fun factor on my Sportsman 400, but it did weigh 700lbs.
I'm actually starting to want either a dirt bike or sport quad cuz these utes just aren't fast enough for me..and they're heavy, my KQ has plenty of power but it's not fast enough if you can understand that...and sticking a 800cc V-twin in a heavy ute(Bomb 800) still wouldn't be fast enough for me because you lose so much power through the automatic tranny and driveshaft....boy did I get off topic

The bomb 800 will wax any sport quad (both quads just off the showroom floor)

No I think I've heard the Yamaha Raptor 660/700 YFZ 450/trx 450 are faster. A 250cc dirt bike would be waaay ahead but that's an entirely different comparison.

Boy are you in for a shock......
The 800 bomb in 4x4 will launch so far out ahead of a 2 wheel drive sport quad and even a dirtbike.

maybe a 125 MXer, not a 250 or a 450 4-stroke. 250 has over 40hp at the crank and weighs 400lbs less (add 40lbs. more if it's the XT). the Outty may get the holeshot (depending on tire, surface, and rider) but it won't be long before the 250 "shocks" the guy on the 800. Throw in some bumps and curves and it's all over for the quad. Just look how far behind the bikes and TRXs the 4x4s finish the Baja 1000. Holeshot isn't everything. There's really no comparison.

There's a guy with an Outty 800 on another forum and he was talking about getting beat by a Banshee (he owned the 800). Not unbelievable at all. Nothing special noted on the shee, nevermind a modded one.

Toyeboy, If you go over to the HighLifter forums you will see that guys with the 800 bombs have already raced and beat the quads you have mentioned. Stock for stock it is one of the fastest machines out there. Take a ride on one and i bet it will have all the power you want and then some!

In the Baja 1000 the bikes are the 1st to leave............then they let the quads go.
Stock against stock I'd still put my money on a bomb 800 (in 4x4) in the 1st 100ft.
I'm talking drag race.......nice dirt track.
just a flat 300 ft strip.
Did the guy on the other forum give any info on surface?.....4x4 in?......ect ect.

what? the results are by overall times, not time of day

the first ATV was 4 hours slower to cross the line, not necessarily 4 hours later

the bikes beat everything else, trucks, rails, atvs, etc

heck, only 56% of the ATVs even finished this year

the track was the same for the outty and shee
