Default Clutch problem

Ok, my problem is with me. I am new to ATV's and I cant seem to shift the engine into nuetral while it is shut off. The engine is not running at the moment due to a lot of wiring problems( the quad was stolen). I also dont know the proper way to shift the atv while it is running, althought I do know you use your foot to push the gear shift lever up to shift up. Any help is appreciated.

Default Clutch problem

use both the brake on the left handlebar and footbrake on the right side...hold them down pretty hard and it might work.
