It's no big deal to me, I figured Wayout was just keeping the pot sturred a little to get a good viggerouse conversation going. I think the rest of us just played along for somthing to do. It is winter and there is allot of bordom going around. I enjoy talking quads on the boards, especialy since its either to cold or I am working so I can't go ride them near as offten as I like this time of year. In case no one noticed the forum member that started this thread, has not even been on here in the last 5 days. I hope he is happy no matter what he buy's.

Yes, you are correct. But, he only changed because Kawie dropped their support. If they had not done that, he would still be riding a kawie. But, I was refering to all the races he won were on kawie v-twins. As far as I know, he hasn't won any on an outy800 yet. I heard it was due to problems he has had with his bike. But, knowing him, he will work that out and be on top again. And, you are right, money and support mean a lot. Point well made.

BTW, nice pics you have......that is of the quads......lol

way out here, i guess you're right old buudy, but honest to god 8out 10 v-twins I've seen here in wv. was nothing but trouble for the owners, when i made that statement that's all i knew about the v-twins, then i start to read about all you guys that swear by them, i started scratching my head wondering how so many people could love them, and that maybe i shouldn't said what i did,but it was to late then;then people started attacking me, for good reason i see now, i got pissed and started to defend myself, that's a natural instinct, i didn't realize you guys was so loyal to Kawasaki;all that i can figure is their was a bunch went out to the one Kawasaki dealer in my area that were defective in the 2002 and 2003 models of 650 v-twins; my brother had a 2002 model 650 v-twin and other than the belt squealing a little every now and then it was truly a good ATV, yea it had a few down falls but don't they all,i rode it for about a month when mine got stolen, i can honestly say i like the ATV, first thing i noticed was the feel of quality between legs, the feel, the sound, the ride, and it had a little power too,ha ha; i put about 500 miles on it, and loved the bike other than the hard steering, he sold it for a little bit of nothing, divorce,i regret not buying it, but any how i apologize to all the kawi owners, i'll watch what i say in the future.. wayout, out,................

i'd have to say the best quads out that you can buy right now are the Outlander 800, Sportsman 800, Prarie 700, and the King Quad.

now they all have there own niche, but if i had my pick out of all of them id choose the Sportsman 800 again for its stout torquie motor, fantastic ride, awesome 4x4, and basicly the best machine out of the box.

i like the outlander, but its just not me, the racks are peices of metal painted over, what good are those for work? and it has the best motor out, but what is a good motor without a good suspention? the suspention is good, but not what i would want on my quad.

sure the sportsman is heavy, and its not as sound as a swiss watch, but it sure as hell is the toughest, maybe not the most reliable, but you dont see outlanders or king quads hitting trees at 40 and 95% of the quad, plus the frame still as it was before hitting it. ive seen on numorous occasions were there was a dumb rider, and the tree jumped out at him and he rammed it, sure A arms and struts get torn off and brackets have to be welded back on, but ive never seen a torqued frame in my time (YET) and everyone that complains about the Paralell twin, its not just a paralell twin, its a inline motor, and everyone knows that inline motors make alot more inherent torque than V-twins. and thats what exactly the sportsman needs and uses, its a work machine, note the turn UTILITY in its deffinition. now id put my life on a Liberty 800 motor to get me out of a sticky situation. its proven in sled pulls that the sportsman when other quads are equally weighted down that the sportsman always wins. the 4x4 might not be perfect, but i like it, its a true 4x4 when it locks in, there are a few problems with it being sticky, but its usually because of rider error or bad maintnance.

the prarie is a fantastic quad, if not for its lack of ground clearance, it would be ranking high up there with the outlander and the sportsman. theres really nothing bad you can say about this quad, other than having a carb for such a big ute.

the king quad aswell, there is nothing bad you can say about this, it does nothing bad, but dosnt accell in anything either, its a perfect well rounded quad, and when modden WAKES UP ALOT. theres an article in this months Dirt Wheels on a FMF Sponsored King Quad build. should take a look at it.

unless your on a limited budget, i wouldent go for a sportsman 700. the Bruteforce 750 is a great quad after you take care of its suspention, but thats expensive stuff. a set of elka's are gonna run you about $2000, and i dont think you want to spend that much.

if you are on a limited budget, i would look at the Prarie, BF650i, and the King Quad

there is an issue of QUAD magazine that ran the (BRP800, Pol800, Kaw 750, and prarie, and the arctic cat 650) against each other, and they gave the Bomb #1 because of its fantastic motor, and the Polaris 800 #1.5 because it was too good to be second, but couldent match the BRP's motor for first.

this is my opinion though, and your money. I've owned a sportsman 800 before, and it was the best Utility quad ive EVER owned and i honor it. it seems like alot of polaris' have problems with their reliability, but ive never had any with mine. we bought a Sportsman 500 H.O. in the summer of 2000, then we bought a Grizzly 660 in 2003, and sold it a year later. and the 500 is still here, even though its slower, it was a better quad to us because of the racks and a bullet proof motor. in 2005 i bought my 800, and sold it 11 months later to get a 2006 Predator LE which i have been EXTREMELY pleased with, and im going to keep buying polaris' because they fit me fantastic, are great quads in my neck of the woods, and my predator is the dominateing quad in my neck of the county

good luck with your purchase! i hope my info has brought some insight to the utility market!
