I have heard of people disassembling their 2500 yearly because theyare not sealed to prevent water from coming in. Is this worth doing? These winches should be sealed from the factory I would think, they cost a fortune.

I think the people who disassemble regularly are also folks who submerge them in mud frequently...

Looks like you may be one of those people who submerge their winch frequently in mud ( by the looks of your photos) . Do you ever disassemble your winch? I dont get into anything that deep , but close. I wonder what the average lifespan of these things is with no maintanence? I am begining to think I should have gotten the 3000 warn just because it is supposedly sealed better.

Actually, I've only done that once or twice. Could have went around that hole, but what fun would that be?

I was kind of concerned about having it run while it was under water, and posted here about that. The consensus of the advise I got was to hose it off and power the cable all the way in and out a couple of times to warm things up and drive off moisture, and not to worry about it.

That's all I did, and it still works great.

On the other hand, it is only a year old, and I think if a person did that constantly... you would probably just have to accept that more frequent service/rebuild is a cost of dunking your machine in the muck all the time. In that kind of service, the 3.0 might indeed be a good choice.

Jeffin your thinking about a brute force? Whats to think man awsome machine, nice power. My local dealer has been keeping its service department open on KQ's alone.

The Brute Force was on my short list when I started shopping, but I got the Foreman instead.

Lately though I've been thinking it would be fun to be "playing with power" and wondering if I could fit a Brute or a Bomb 800 into the budget as a second quad...
