What's the problem with Superwinch?
#1
You guys in the USA dont seem to like the ATV Superwinch, here in the UK the Warn Winch is not so easy to get but the Superwinch is adertised everywhere and even has a UK distributor. What are the problems that i am likely encounter with the new Superwinch ATV 2300 that i have just fitted on my 02 Kodiak?

I had an ATV2000 Superwinch. Loved the price, but a season of snowplowing seemed to take its toll. I ended up selling the ATV so I don't know how it lasted, but there was a noticable loss in pulling power. I cannot say what caused it, but I speculate the road salt mixed in the snow I was pushing found its way into the winch motor. I also did not care for their bulky rocker switch and Rube Goldberg switch mount.
Warn has definately got a better reputation and I like their customer service. When I had the opportunity to buy a 2.5ci for $199 I could not resist, so no Superwinch this time, even though they are made less than an hour from where I live.
cheers

I still got the first winch that was on my 85 250 fourtrax(took off before being sold)and I would be using it on the Rubicon now expect the switch is burnt out.But I know peolpe with Warn winchs and my superwinch is lasting long has a bigger pulling capacity(3500lb) is the same size and cost my father about the same as a Warn 2000lb one would have cost him. It was used for plowing without trouble pulled out the 250, and was stalled many times, never rebuilt ever after being under water for 3 days.
Most winchs are built the same most of the time it only comes down to power, and the companys rep. when deciding the price.

Over the long haul (no pun intended) I suspect the Warn will give better overall service, but you can buy two or three of the "other" brands for the same money. The latest Gorilla looks like a Warn knock-off.
But I have a question. Suppose you buy a knock-off. Is there a single source that sells everything but the winch and tailored for your machine? It would be nice to be able to buy the proper mounting plate, wire harness, rocker switch mount, etc., for your machine w/out having to piece it all together. Anyone know of such a place? I know some of the lessor brands have wires, switch, etc., included, but is there an issue with this generic stuff, like the wires being too long, or the switch not being able to be mounted correctly, or some such? What is your experience. Is there a place to get everything you need to mount one of these winches if it's not included? The price certainly is attractive compared to a Warn.

if u take a look inside a warn... metal gears with plastic housing... take a look inside superwinch and it looks the same... hmmmmmm
I'm not saying Warn is better or Superwinch is worse because I don't have the data, but I hope there's a reason Warn can command the price they do
my Superwinch didn't last 1 plowing season before it became slower and weaker, we'll see how the Warn does
