Warn 2500 or the 3000 if your planning on some serious work. My buddy has a 3000 on his Vinson 500 we pulled the quad behing a tree and pulled his full size Toyota Tundra our of a snow bank with it

I have the Gorilla Winch, works great, the mounting plate is a universial mount, it fits and bolts up, but it don't fit perfect, its fine with me, the handlebar switch is kinda generic but never had a problem with it. A friend has a Warn Winch and we compared the two, they look the same, perform the same and even sound the same.

I tried for days trying to get the winch mounted. It seems that Yamaha may have changed the front struts on my 06 Kodiak 400, and so now there is not enough room for the winch. I took the whole front assembly off to try and make it fit with no luck.

Is buying a cheap winch the same as buying a cheap power tool? I bougt a cheap reciprocating saw that broke while cutting its first piece of wood. Does the old adage "You get what you pay for" apply to atv winches?

no I don't think so

With Warn you pay for their advertising, and their name.

If you do a search you'll see that Warn has their problems too, just because you pay twice as much for it doesn't mean it's 2x better.

I have two Warn 2.5 winches. One for snowplowing which gets used a lot from November through March. The second is mounted on the Multi Mount platform, it gets used in the summer but not a lot. Both these winches are just over two years old with no problems.

I also have three Superwinches, two are in the scrap pile in the corner with the bushings wore out and the magnets cracked. The third is on my Ag. system and gets a fair amount of use in the summer. Eventually I will change this one to a Warn 1.5. The primary problem with the Superwinches is the switches. When I used them for plowing I would go through at least one and sometimes two switches each winter.

Well, all I gotta say is this.... you never need a winch till you need a winch... and then it better work...

I went with the WARN 2.5 CI.. had it since 04' use it for plowing and retrieval of myself and lots of others stuck in the muck.. for the $200 difference between made in the USA and made in china, I'll take the WARN everytime.

I have the venom 2.5 winch and it works fine for me. The true test will be this winter when I use it with the plow 150 shipped with mounting bracket, can't beat the price.
