Griz 660 or Outty 800
Well this is where I am looking in 2007's. I am looking to purchase this
summer but really just waiting to see what Yamaha does in June. I am not
fond of speed, but need power for trail riding in mountains and rough
terrain. Is the Griz equal to the Outty for trail riding. No altitude problems
for carb adjustments. I'd like to hear from owners of Outty and Griz. I
also like the 2up Outty, are there any 2up owners.

These are two completely different quads...
The 660 towers above the outty with damn near 12" of ground clearance unlike the outty which advertises it but really comes in around at like 10". The grizz has a manual locker which would be far better in any true rough terrain.
Then the outty has the obvious power advantage and its a big one going up against the grizz and handles well for an IRS...
Kinda depends on what you're going to do with it... rocks and mud the 660 would be dragging the outty around but on the trails you're going to get left.

Trust me don't get the Grizzly...if you have the money for the Outty 800 then get it in a second. The Grizzly isn't even in the elite big bores anymore! You may think speed isn't important now..but when you get that Grizzly's underwhelming big single home you'll really wish you would have gotten the Outty 800. If your riding in mountians, EFI is nice no matter what altitude. I have the KQ 700 and it's not even close to enough power for me.. and it's got a foot up againist the Griz. in power as well as EFI. The Outty 800 will do laps around any Big single ute out there!!

Well you guys are just blinded by power... The grizzly sits almost 12 inches high and has a TRUE locker not a 3wd that will eventually lock up so in the mud and in the rocks the grizzly would drag your little outty anywhere he wants.
In every category? lol what a joke.

Blinded by the best power, handling and yes I am because it's true. I ride them all and there is no comparison. The Grizz will not go where the Outlanders do in snow, can't keep up while fast trailblazing or do extreme mountain climbing. The visco-loc is better 99% of the time but people will harp on that 1% because it's the only way they can compare it to the class leading Outlander. The Grizz is still a great machine just not up to the Outlander, but nothing can at this point. I race motocross on a 06 YZ 450f and would love to see Yamaha step up. Who knows what Yamaha has comming next year!!!!

Actually, I am another person who dislikes visco, only because i can lock mine in all 4 and not have it pop out of 4x4 because the quad feels its time. And the beating the grizz through the snow? I dont know how that is. Power means nothing in snow. Its all ground clearance, and tires.
