Default Buying a ATV $3.000.00 or cheaper?

Ok guys, I'm in the market for an ATV (probably used) I'm new to the whole ATV scene so I'm not to sure on what some good older ATV's would be. The last few weeks I have been riding my friends Polaris Trailboss 330. I like how it feels, it has good power and is perfect for me. I'm 6'3 350lbs so I need a bigger ATV and I like the feel and comfert of a Utility ATV. I have become hooked on ATVing and trail riding. Right now I have a little sunl 150 that is a POS. I'm way to big for it and it has zero ***** behind it. I have around 3k to spend and would like something comparable in size and power to the Trailboss. I dont want to run out and buy another trailboss ( I would feel kinda funny doing that) So what would you guys suggest I look at? I also want an automatic, like I said before I'm new to ATVing and would like to gas a go to start and then move up to a manual after I get some experince.

Right now my local Ride Now dealer has a 06 Hawkeye for $3200 out the door. Only thing is the ATV looks and feels a little small for me. Anyway, I hope to get some good feed back on some bikes to go look at. I hope to make this purchase within the next few weeks. Thanks guys.

There should be quite a few options in that price range for a decent ute locally. If you like the power of the Trailboss, then you will probably be happy with something like a used Eiger, Rancher, Prairie, or Kodiak. Craigs list can be a great local resource for finding privately owned local quads.

For that price you should be able to find a used Polaris Scrambler 400 or 500ho. This would suit you very well. Or even another trailboss but the Scrammy will have alot more power. Look on Ebay. You can find some good deals there. I would not go smaller than a 400cc quad.

My friend has a brand new Scrambler 500. That thing has tons of power, but the trailboss is alot more comfy for my size for some reason. I drove the scrambler for about an hour yesterday and was aching when I got off. I took the Trailboss out for 3 hours and felt fine. I dont know what it is? I have found a few Scamblers 400 and 500 for around $2500 to $3300. So the price is right, I just dont know how I would feel riding one all day. I have a real bad back and it just feels rougher then the trilboss by alot. I have thought about it though.

I found a Prarie 650 for $3500 with 1200 miles on it. I went to my local dealer and say the same ATV with the same miles on it and they wanted $5200? So private part will be my best bet.

A buddy of mine has a 400 Eiger, and though it's no fire breather, it seemed to me it handles and rides pretty well and was an excellent value for the money. Yamaha also has some pretty nice smaller automatic utility machines. You might also be able to find a used Honda Rancher in that range.

Unless a manual is totally out of the question, maybe you might find a Foreman not too much out of your price range. They would be an automatic clutch (just back off the throttle and shift). Some have push button shifting instead of a foot shifter, but in the older ones I'd recommend the manual shift.

being that you live in nevada and how big you are i`d try to pick up a older ds650.my buddy has one and it rides like a caddy.they are geared for the desert too.

I also found a couple 2001 Honda Foreman 450's for between $2700 and $3800 private party. The only thing I'm worried about is not having a warranty on a used atv, Then again my friend only has 10 months left on his warranty and he has not used it once yet and he spent $1800 on it. So its a toss up I guess.. Back to the Honda Foreman 450.. is that a pretty good atv for the money?

The Foreman is a very solid machine.
