protecting the plastics on atv
I have found the very best thing for plastics on ATV's. The secret potion is TIRE FOAM! That no touch crap you spray on your tires really shines up plastic. However, don't let it stay on there forever. After a few minutes wipe it off with a terry towel. I also found that Armor All spray works second best. Keep in mind that too much of this on your seat will make it slick!! Pure black seats also don't work great with this stuff.

I haven't ever heard of an actual product made specifically for ATV's. Tire foam doesn't really extend the life of plastic but you all have to try it out. It makes the plastic freaking glow!!!!
Here's a link to what i'm talking about:

Fading: Well I've not really seen too many fade, as long as they are protected from the sun. Keep it covered, or in a garage.
Drying out: I have not seen any of the newer plastics dry out. I'd really be surprised to see that.
Cracking: Well they only bend so far. I don't think there is a sure-fire way to keep it from cracking if it takes a hard enough hit.
The best think you can do for your plastics, IMO, is heavy duty automotive wax. Some kind of carnuba wax that you actually have to buff off by hand. I usually wax mine every few washes and that seems to keep it looking like new......
