do I have to break the bead and install it from the inside of the rim? Or can I do it from the outside?

I needed to unwind and took a quick ride, felt the tire blow out and was really worried, but when I got back into the garage I was very happy to see that my valve stem was missing. That made me pretty happy, I wouldn't want to have to replace one polaris PXT tire.

I had to get out to take a ride -- in the past 2 weeks, we've gotten 22 inches of snow, and then like 4 inches of rain (the rain has been the last week or so, I was getting cabin fever bad). Anyway, the clouds edged back a bit this evening so I took advantage of the lack of rain and took a ride through the woods, but the trails here were rough and I ended up ripping out the valve.

Here's to no more snow!

You have to break the bead and pull it through the bottom.

 

Thanks, doc. I've been so busy lately, I think I may just swing by a gas station and let them do it -- about how much will they charge? If it's not much more, I just figure it's not worth my while to use a tire jack to break the bead and then reseat it with a chance of leaks.

I took mine down to the local Big O and they did it for free. Just remind them to be carefull with your rims...They are used to playing with big car rims.

I had my mudlites installed at VIP, and it was a disaster. 20 bucks for the set, and when they seated them, all the little rubber new tire mold things were folded into the bead, so each tire had about 20 leaks on each side. I was already at the lake, and wanted to ride, so I ended up breaking and reseating all eight beads myself, and they've been pretty reliable ever since.
