Default Manual Clutch 4X4?

Thats why the shifter type ATV are called semi autos, since there is no clutch to operate like on a motorcycle but only the foot leaver.

Maybe we should just call it a "like-a-250r-clutch"

Oldest AC 500 I found was a 1999 500 and its still a semi auto only.

99 AC 500 specs.

I found a link on a 98 454 Acrtic Cat and it says it,s a auto clutch also.

98 AC 454 info

There are three basic types of transmission set-ups with ATVs. 1) Manual clutch: you have to pull in the clutch lever to start/stop and shift gears. 2) Auto-clutch or semi-auto: you just shift without a clutch, but you must still manually select the gear you want. 3) Fully automatic: you select forward, neutral, or reverse and the transmission takes care of the rest.

Im pretty sure there has never been a 4x4 atv with a manual shifting clutch. If they did make one I would buy it, that would be fun.

Its just a foot shift lever, no clutch lever to pull in. the semi-auto starts by disabling the clutch with the shifter, shifting, then re engaging the clutch in one movement. so as you pull up or down on the shift lever, it disegages the clutch half the lever travel, shifts up or down on the top or bottom of the shifter travel, engages the clutch at half travel, then clutch is fully engaged and proceed accelerating until the next gear.
