reliablity

I don't know if I would classify a 500cc as a "big bore" utility quad. That is more of a "mid-size" utility ATV if you ask me, and that makes a difference in which is most reliable. If you include the 500cc utility quads then I think you need to consider the Rubicon 500 and Foreman 500 as two of the most reliable ATVs out there. If you really want to consider only "big bore" ATVs, then I would limit it to the 650+ utility quads. In that class you have the Bombardier Outlander 650 and 800, the Rincon 700, Grizzly 660 and 700, Kawasaki Brute Force 650 and 750, Suzuki King Quad 700, and Arctic Cat 650 and 700. Out of those ATVs I personally think the Grizzlys are the most reliable.

Outside of the normal wear and tear issues that all quads have when they're used... between my friends and I.... (various suzi's, polaris, honda, BP, kawi, AC, and yami) the grizzlies have had the least amount of problems. The grizzlies are the oldest bikes (two `02 660 models) and they still have had less issues than all of the others... and the others are all less than 4 years old.
I'm sure the results can be different in other riding groups... but that's how it's turned out for ours... That's out of a total of about 25 quads or so...

The wolverine (yamaha) has the most trouble in our group. 1 arctic cat 650V2, 1 Arctic Cat 400, 3 kodiak 450s, 1 Raptor 700, 1 grizzly 660. 1 honda fourtrax 300. Our group steers clear of Polaris. Personally, I like Arctic Cat. No trouble at all so far.

The foot shift Foremans and Ranchers have a good reputation, as does the Rubicon.
Rincons are also known for trouble free accumulation of high miles. Here' s a photo of a dash someone posted over at high lifter. From the rest of the series, it appears the owner doesn't baby the machine, either.
