^ Exactly

In late 1999, Polaris ran a deal that they advertised as the cheapest 4X4 on the planet. I bought a new 1999 Xplorer 300 4X4 for $3,299 out the door. I sold it for $3,300 in spring 2001. It looked brand new. I actually wish I had it back now.

There is still a savings to be had used. I bought my low milage SP500 for $2200 less than new plus there is only a 7% tax on used machines here in Ontario while new machines has a 14% tax.

I must of saved $2500 total, I have no warranty but our 7,500 mile old 97 SP500 was bought "new" and never went back to the dealer once it was bought so I took the chance.
Our warranties up here are only 6 months long and are over before you know it and can be used up just by sitting in a shed for the winter.

I figged if I do have repairers they will never add up to the $2500 I saved buying used, heck I could buy 3 extra motors off of Ebay with that much money.

I also like some off the older SP500 features over the new, like no ECM thing no plastic roller cage front differential and they still had the large 5.25 Gas tanks.

TLC is right, here in Northern Ont. used bikes in good condition are like bricks of gold. Mostly due to the fact new is so expensive and even though the tax dropped 1% more to 13%, if you buy used you only pay 5% on a reciept the seller writes to you. So if they wanna stick it to the government... with in reason they'll just write the reciept cheaper than the actuall transaction was.

I don't know how many bikes buddies bought that they paid $4000 to $5000 for and only paid 5% tax on $2500. The tax savings alone is over a hundred bucks and thats at least two cases of beer here. Eh?!

Seriously though... I've sold a shocker my self here and it just goes to show that to the right person it's only the condition and the price... not the year of the bike.

A 1994 Kawasaki Bayou 300 cc 4 wheel drive probably retail was $2895 in 1994. Sold here in 2007 for $3500. F#$ked Up.

I have no way of counting the miles on this bike as there was no speedo on them. All I know is that this bike for sure went through three sets of handle grips.

It was in fair to nice shape. I always took the racks off and gave 'em a shot of Tremclad. If the seat got a rip I would spend the $40 at the local upholstry shop to fix it... but I did ride the bike and as I aquired newer bigger bikes I used this one for buddies who didn't have a bike to ride as community bike.
