That's because Honda has chosen not to follow all the other ATV manufacturers and add a differential lock in the front. If you get three wheels spinning the fourth one (one of the two front wheels) will not have any power to it. While it does make it easier to steer, it doesn't drive all four wheels. Hence the three wheel drive.
