Mile Set Back on ATV ?
#1
wondering if theres a way to check the actual mileage of an ATV? my brother has an 04 cat 400 and when he had his speedo replaced the miles were reset to 0 on the new one. is it possible to check for the actual mileage when buying so you dont get scammed? thanks.

It's like buying a car. The owner either tells you the actual miles or lies about it. Lying about it is a crime, at least here it is, but if they do there's no way to know the actual miles.

If the ATV has low milage you do not need the speedo to tell you that. I bought a used 2001 SP500 without a working speedo but the fact it no dings in the rims, plastics and skids and it had the stock tire which were still in great shape ,that told me it had low miles.
Find out what those ATV had for stock tires and if it still has them and there in good shape than it has low mileage. ATV cheap stock tire especially the fronts do not last beyond 2000 miles the rear last longer due to there meatier lugs.
I just quess my ATV had 1500 miles and found out later the hour meter still worked and read 120hrs,so I was pretty close.
