I use a manual lift. It's not that difficult to lift unless you have the plow stuck in the snow bank.

One thing I like about a manual lift is that it has great "feel". I have a long gravel lane and driveway to plow and it is really nice to be able to "feel" the blade barely contacting the surface especially in the early parts of the winter before the gravel is stuck down really well.
