I have a 1998 Suzuki Quadrunner 500 and I have never felt unstable at high speeds! If the speedo is correct, I have had my machine up to 55 mph, which I beleive it is. My 300 king quad would do 45 at best. I dont believe you would go wrong with the Suzuki! I just put 27" Titan 589's on my machine and they look great! Plus, I never have really had any problems with bottoming out the suspension, allthough I dont try to ride it like its a sport type of quad either!

The BB will go faster than 35-40 too!!! I raced against a 350 big bear 4x4 vs. my honda 300 4x4, he went a bit faster than me and my max speed is about 44-45.

Those of you who have read my other post know that the debate for my new quad is down to these 2 since they have 5 speed trannies, look good, and in my price range. There's just a $200 difference between them so money isn't a worry. I want to get 27" Vamps eventually for whichever I get and I want to make sure there's enough power to turn them. I like the looks of the Big Bear better but I like the fact that the Quadrunner has 100 more cc's. I've heard that the Quadrunner isn't as stable at high speed but it's not really meant to be and that it bottoms out easily on jumps (which it isn't designed for either), but it just gets harder and harder to decide which one to get. The dealer said the BB with the 27" big wheel kit already on it had plenty of power to turn the tires but he could just be telling me that to make a sale. I've heard that the 500 can hit 52-56 mph and the BB hits around 35-40, I don't know personally so let me know. I'd like to know if anyone has had both or still does or have rode with someone who had the other. Thanks for all the help.

i own a 2000 big bear 400 2wd and can tell
you that it will run more than 40. my father
drove beside me on his truck and said i was
running 56. i cant speak for what a 4wd will do but i wouldn't think it would make that much difference in top speed. i love my bear and it is a great machine!

I own a big bear and raced it in the 1999
GNCC stock Utility class.
it is faster than the suzuki in the woods handles better and is better suspended.
i have 26 in maxxis sur-tracks on it now and
i live in the mountains where the tterraiis very steep and you can leave it in 4th &5th gear almost anywhere with out bogging.
GO WITH THE BB. ps I won the championship
against quad runners 500cc wolverines,
honda 300 &450s sportsman 500s it just dont matter.

The big bear will run around 49-50. This was beside my foreman S. We were neck and neck ....he couldn't pass and I couldn't either.
Top speed only means you hit the tree faster.....

Venomous: You mentioned jumping. With a Big Bear? 4x4? I don't think the BB was built for jumping. To each his own, I suppose. My 00 BB 4x4, with no modifications, on flat ground with my 200lb. body will do maybe 50 mph. The BB is not a go fast machine but one heck of a worker.

The faster you travel, the harder you crash!
