I agree tho I would have been happy with just EFI. There is no argument as is they are both bullet proof designs that will last forever!

The engine braking on the new rancher is FINE and by fine it will hold you at like 4mph in first. What people don't understand is that being able to shift on your own is not only really fun but adds alot to a sporty feel of an ATV being able to isolate a gear ratio and keep the machine in a certain RPM range is something that the CVT atvs have long since forgotten about..

Even if shifting yourself is actually slower it sure doesnt feel it.. it's also way better for pulling wheelies, jumping, and any number of things you do when you horse around with your wheeler.

To be able to shift or have auto shift is just about the coolest feature on any ATV.

I had CVT machines and yes they are fast and efficient but after ridding a machine that I could shift or not i fell in love with gears again LOL

Sounds like you are leaning toward Honda. Go for it

Having a sport quad lets me shift all I want. But when it comes to actually using using 4wheel dr I will take automatic or more like a CVT any day for those time when you are in steep terrain. I highly doubt anyone can shift faster than a duel clutch tranny!

and no independent rear suspension.

2 BIG negatives i would say

Beter read this 4x4 ATVs Comparison Test Report - What's the Best 500 Utility ATV?

If the 500 Can Am loses then what of the 400?
Grizzly 450 is way under sized and powered to even be compared to the SP500.
The 500 Rubicon came dead last ,could you image the 420 Ranger in there?
The 420 does not make over 28 hp,has no AWD,a low hanging rear drum brake and little 24" wheels, way to much for efi to help it overcome.

For most trail riders this is not a bad thing! God know which machine will have the least amount of issues in a 10 years time.

I,m almost at 10 year now and I would not want a 450 Grizzly and I rode one more than a few times. Thats one good thing about our camping trips,we have many types of ATVs and we trade rides all the time.

Even the 420 Rancher could not win the budget 4x4 shootout. ATV Comparison - 2009 Budget 4x4 ATVs Reviewed.
