For people who think True AWD is not a big deal. Video
This is one of the best Videos I have seen showing the difference between 4x4 and a AWD system.
Here is a video of a guy who tries his first two attempts in regular 4x4 (3wd) then he put in in diff lock (AWD) and is out of there.
The two Hondas behind him must of had to turn back and called it a day.

1:35-1:40 in the video only has one rear tire spinning!
I think the right rear tire bead was broke and only the rim was turning inside the tire.
But the locking front drive vs limited slip is sure demonstrated clearly.

that video makes me proud i own a grizzly. cause i have had to use the diff lock/4wd in some situations and glad that it works! it got me out of quite a few jams. although i see you point on the RR wheel. i'll have to look at mine more closely next time i'm in a jam.
ROCK ON GRIZZLY!!!!!!!!!

Even if I had a diff lock I wouldn't have tried that. Better to be safe (with both you and your machine) than sorry.
The problem is the best fishing may be down that trail and waiting for the day that trail will get safer, smoother or paved is not a option. Sometime you do not ride the trail but the trail takes you for a ride.
On our fishing trips to fly in fishing lakes we hit trails as bad or worst while hauling in 400lbs of camping gear.
