1999 sportsman 500 electrical issue

Default 1999 sportsman 500 electrical issue

My 99 sportsman 500 is tripping the 20 amp Circuit breaker from the batter to the ignition. any idea on what or why it is shorting out?

Either old and weak or sometimes they can corrode and cause it to trip. You can get these 20 amp breakers at any auto supply for a few bucks. Here's a new one compared to a bunch I've seen before. Just slice the pouch open and check it out.

Hey Sir, I replaced the CB last night and it still does the same thing. the wires are warm to the touch. According to a wiring diagram that wire goes to the ignition key? I appreciate the help!

The main circuit breaker allows power to the left control switch, dash along with lights and ignition switch. If a new one is still getting hot and tripping,then you have a short or faulty connection. Check connections at the battery first,then move forward through the wiring harness.

One spot to check good is where the wires come up to the bars. They get alot of movement their and can rub through
