Bowman,
You cant go wrong with the 650 Kaw. I have ridden with the Rubicon and it is not too good with water. It is very slow compared to the Kaw. You can probably get the Kaw for the same price. Mine is over a year old and has not had a problem yet. It has power and handling in a neat package. Good luck with your choice!!!!!

Unless your into high speed trails, the '03 Arctic Cat 500 should be an option. Better in the rough stuff and for '03 they have the HO version of the motor so they are faster but not as fast as the Kawi'. The AC will have much better ground clearance as well as articulation. It is already a proven utility machine as well as mountain rider. The speed is not that bad around 55-60. Ride the ones your interested in and good luck in your decision.

I agonized over the decision of a Kaw 650 or Honda Rubicon. Initially, I was going to buy the Ruby. The Kawasaki dealer urged me to drive both machines before purchasing. The Honda dealer was less than enthusiastic about trying out a new Ruby, but finally agreed. I thought it was a nice machine. Then I test drove the Kawasaki Prairie 650. Wow, was that an experience!! The Kaw was considerably more powerful, much smoother and quieter than the Honda. It also seemed much easier to control. After driving both machines, the decision was easy. Just bought a new 2003 dark green Kaw 650.

I owned a Rubicon about 8 months ago. I wanted a 4wd to ride with some other friends of mine. I was miserable on the Ruby, the worst thing about it is its full time 4wd. Plus its terrible slow compared to the others. I do think though that it would be a dependable quad though. I love the Prairie 650. Haven't had now problem with it yet. You can hang with the sport quads but still have the versatility of a utility quad. Whatever you ride take the time to enjoy a safe ride. Dennis
