Kawasaki Prairie 650 Or Yamaha Grizzly 660?
Well...I did it! Today I bought a new 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650. I'll pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I think the Grizzly is probably a fine machine, but the Prairie is the right 4X4 quad for me. Thanks for all the constructive input guys! You provided some valuable information.

Hey TheSorb , you made the right choice , congrats on the new ride , I ride with 4 grizzlys and the all have problems from breaking fronts axles to sputtering to head light bulbs falling out , the prairie is a lot sportier , lot more power and the best brakes every put in ANY atv. P.S people complain about the stock tires but they are as good as any stock utility tire except the polaris rawhides.
Have a good day.

Gawd...those 4 POS grizzlies must be related to the 4 POS prairies I always ride with. What a coincidence.

I will concur with Jeffro's opinion that: NONE if the Japanese quad makers bother to put REAL RUBBER on their machines! Polaris seems to, that is, most of the time.
The Dumflops on my P-650 almost hurt me twice..........I decided that I would rather buy tires, than visit the hospital!

HI GUY'S:
"TheSorb"...congrats on the new weapon. I look forward to hearing your ride reports...so keep us posted. Each ride you go on will only further convince you, that you made the right choice. Lot's of nice quads out there, but the fun factor of the P650 can't be denied! As someone mentioned above...the stock tires are no worse than most others stockers (Except Polaris) but the speeds the P650 is capabable of on the trail ,causes damage to them in a hurry. Such explosive accelleration makes us mash the throttle for fun...the end result however is dented rims and ravaged tires(Do-nuts on pavement... kill tires). I ride as fast as any trail will safely allow it most times. But wheeies's, powerslides, jumps etc, in all sorts of terrain, at speeds far more than most Utility's are capable of... is very hard on any tires. Maybe asking stock 2ply's to hold up on this animal is a joke, and completely unfair. Matter of fact I may even go into the garage and appoligize to my stockers for asking them to do too much. Have fun!
