Aside from changing the oil and cleaning the air filter regularly I checked the valve clearance once and made small adjustments to the brakes now and then.Other than that and visually looking it over no other maintenance was necessary on my rancher. However the proper way to maintain your rancher would be to follow the suggestions in the owners manual.

Never mind I found it. I also found a lot of other things that need maintenance. now I just need help to convince my mom to bring it in.

You should probably drain the front and rear dif once a year, unless you don't put on many miles and don't run in any water or mud. However, that would mean you are not having too much fun w/ your guad! I had the valves on my rancher adjusted around 1050 miles, as I noticed some power loss. They were out of adjustment. Also, you should change your spark plug 1x year. Not much $ and ensures that quad keeps running well.

Every year::
Change Engine Oil (usulay twice a year - depends on how much going you do)
Change Diffferential Fluid (if milky - means water got in it)
Adjust clearance on valves/replace spark plug
Clean/Adjust brakes / grease seals
Clean Air Filter
Touch up paint on racks/frame
Throughout the year:
Check Oil level
Inspect differential oil
Inspect frame for cracks
Inspect all vent hoses/bushings/CV boots etc for cracks

Oil & filter change at 100 miles and every 600 miles or 100 hours after that.
Check valve adjustment every 600 miles.
Clean air filter regularly.
Differential fluid change every other year.
Adjust brakes as they wear, inspect them (through red plug in wheels) every 600 miles.
Inspect steering and suspension every 600 miles.
Wash it every time it gets dirty.
It should last forever.
