Default Best Auto 400-500cc class

I never owned an automatic, but, I am looking into getting one.
400cc to 500cc (Kodiak 450, Vinson Auto, Sportsman 500, Outlander 400) not looking at Honda because I'm looking for a sportier ride and the 650 is out of my range.

Looking for feedback for the best auto. I'm not concerned about water (won't see any), or lock diff.

I tried a Kodiak 400 and I found it was aweful. Torque was not good and as soon as I hit 30km/hr the engine was roaring and vibrating so much that I keep getting the urge to shift.

I tried the Sportsman 500 and I fonud that it isn't so loud and it seems to be more smooth. It actually runs very similar to a snowmobile.

Just wondering if any other Auto handles similar to the sportsman. is the new Kodiak 450 changed from the 400? What about the outlander or the Vinson.

much appreciated

I think you would be happy with the vinnie a lot of people like it... also I would look at the 450 kodie over the 400 kodie. Ask the service managers on how the vinnies are standing up, I know the 450 is standing up well.

I'd say the 450 Yam would be the best sport bike while the Outlander would be the best off-road bike.

Love my Kodiak 450. It is different from the Kodiak 400. The 450 has a dual range selector and true locking differential. Also has a really nice digital display. I'm out flying an Air Force mission. I am having big time Kodiak withdrawls.

Using your criteria, I would look very hard at the 400 Outlander. Most all reviews have rated it very high. They also say it runs with the 500s in the performance dept. They just look a little different. Inlaws have a 2000 Traxter and it has been trouble free and they use it like a tractor and a trail machine.

Forman 450 - no reason, but yes I'm biased towards them!!! Kodiak 450 is also a good bike if you like autos, both are definantly better built then the polaris.

Hellfish, taking a little time off. Left job and had to get on-line at home finally. Bombardier makes the most different looking ATVs there are. I do like alot of their inovations though, they just need a little help in the looks dept.

Its spring time. Friends are looking at new ATVs. One is selling his 99 SP500, I think he will end up with a P650. Another started looking and he is so confused he is ready to give up. I tried to tell him color is the most important item to consider.

Talk back to ya soon.
