I am ready to purchase another ATV in the mid class. Somewhere in the 300 to 400 range. I have previously owned a Suzuli King Quad, but I'm looking at a AC 300 4x4. I really need to know if this machine is reliable, and also compare all other makes in this class. Is there some type of consumer report that objectively evaluates classes of ATV's? Any help you give is greatly appreciated! Respectifully, whiteeagle

the artic cat 300 motor is the susuki king quad motor, so if you liked the king quad you'll like the artic cat. basicly there the same quad.

Most people from what i've heard say the susuki/artic cat 300 motor is reliable but is a little under powered compared to other atvs.

I am a VERY BIG Polaris fan. If you are looking for a quad in the 300-400 range, i would definately go for the Rancher350 hands down just because Honda makes the best bikes in that range.
I agree with Hondaman or whatever

IF you believe the shoot outs in Dirt Wheels & 4 Wheel ATV action then the Rancher is the champ for its class. I own won & don't regret purchasing it. I wish there was more time to ride.

If I was going to buy a quad in that range I would also buy the rancher. And Im a huge Polaris man myself but have looked at the rancher its a very nice quad. And if like they say if you believe the magazines you cant loose by choosing a Rancher.

I have a 500 ArcticCat and love it, the 'zuki motor is far from being underpowered. I'm not sure but I think the 300 and the 400 are built on the same frame as my 500, the seat is very comfortable and the whole quad handels well.
Go a test every quad you can and then make your mind up. I did and the 'Cat was the one for me and Im glad I got it.

Check the HP stats before you choose. The Explorer
400 brings the most muscle to the trail. At least go ride one if you can, that snappy 2 stroke power is addictive! And don't think all Polaris is junk, my '93 never breaks down and has awesome power for a utility ride.

Great timing whiteeagle. I was interested in hohdaholics responce. I am in the market for a used 300 4x4. Currently comparing '98 AC 300 4x4 and the 99' Honda 4trax 300 4x4. I test rode the AC 300 4x4 today. Had adequate power, rough shifts, and did not like the shifter at all. Smooth ride. AC takes it on the chin for resale value versus Honda 4trax. It appears that the 4trax is more reliable and has better resale. Decent ride on the 4trax. But the 4trax is ful time 4x4. Anyone out there have any suggestions??????
