Tusk is a new Rocky Mountain brand name that looks just like the Superwinch atv2000. I have a feeling that it might be because Superwinch allows companies like Cabela's and Moose to put their labels on Superwinch products, but I'm not completely sure. You could buy almost two or three Tusk for the price of another brand. You could call "RM" and just ask them a few questions to make you feel better before you purchase. I don't know of anyone that has one yet because Tusk is new to "RM".

www.rockymountainatv.com has the tusk winches. I was thinking of buying one cause my warn winch just quit on me. But i'm also skeptical about these winches being so cheap but like you said you can buy 3 of them to equal the other brands. I see it even if there cheap if it breaks thats only $100 bucks and not $350. Anyone have a tusk winch......anyone?

I don't want to say this too loud but probably if "RM" raised their price of the Tusk winch they'd sell more.
Another example: atvdoc.com has a atv2000 winch for $180. They say that it is "identical to the Superwinch but has our brand on it." They even show a pic. of the Superwinch instead of one with their brand on it. The shape, lines and look of the Tusk are like the Superwinch. Either some company has copied the Superwinch or it is one. Are there companies that make generic winches to look like other brands?

The Tusk is $109.99 and the mount is about $59.99 w/roller fairlead and then shipping/handling. Rockymountain seems pretty reputable. It's not like you'd be buying it from the back of someones car. But I can understand why you'd be hesitant.

i got a tusk 2000 winch for x mass. so far i have not had any problems with it. i have used it to pull my kodiak up a fairly steep hill covered with a foot of wet snow. but i do feel that a little bit more hill or snow would have stalled it out thats why i would get a ****** block or pulley for it. also the switch is a very poor design, not water proof what so ever. if you don't constantly use your winch then this one will work fine. or if you have one of those heavy polaris' then you might want something heavier duty.
