Tire Punctures
#1
Back when I had my old 89 Honda ATV I always had problems with tire punctures. I did much of my riding in the woods and it never failed that during a trip I might have two or more flat tires from thorns and sharp sticks. Patching was time consuming and I found that it was just about as easy to just use a small screw to plug the hole. After several excursions it looked like you had studded tires. When things got too ridiculous I would sit down and fix them all the right way but it was quite a pain.
Well, I am going to be picking up a Griz 660 to go riding with my Uncle and do some of the utility work around the farm so I guess I will be back to fixing tires.
Have ATV tires got tougher since 1990 or so when I had my ATV? Are there any additives or coating that can help with the puncture problems? Is that tire slime I see advertised the way to go?

Greetings fellow mud thingies
I would go with 6 ply tires. No tire is puncture proof but 6 ply tires come close.
Slime tire sealant works great I've used it for years but if you get a slash high on the sidewall it won't do much for that.

I agree. Get some Slime. I got a flat the first time I rode w/my stock tires. Put some Slime in them, and didn't get another flat for 3 months. Took them off, put on some 6 ply Gators, also Slimed them. Now I run over thorn bushes on purpose!
